The Reader is an award-winning national charity and Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation. Having just recently reopened our headquarters at the beautiful Grade II listed Mansion House in Liverpool’s Calderstones Park and as they emerge from a period of challenge and innovation following Covid-19, they are at a key period in our growth.
They’re looking for a new Business Development Manager with experience of nurturing relationships, launching new products and generating income from corporate markets as we enter a new, exciting phase of a three-year Business plan. You will join a small, high performing team and will work in close collaboration across all departments and levels of the organisation.
As an inclusive employer, they use their values to ensure The Reader is a thoughtful, supportive, creative work environment. All employees at The Reader benefit from:
Flexible working options including home working or varied hours where required
Generous holiday entitlement of 30 days p/a plus bank holidays
Regular opportunity to participate in Shared Reading, connecting with our core work and experiencing the personal benefits it brings
Access to personal development, including our flagship ‘Read to Lead’ training programme
They believe literature’s unique power has the potential to connect us, to help us feel better and to rebuild lost social bonds. Our vision is for one humanity in which everyone has an opportunity to thrive. From our Shared Reading movement in prisons, schools and community spaces across the UK and beyond, to our programme of arts, heritage and wellbeing activity at their Calderstones Park home – The Reader builds lively communities that bring people together and books to life.
As Business Development Manager with responsibility for generating income from corporate markets – be they large-scale employers to private health-care providers, in the UK and internationally – you will play a pivotal role in working with teams to sell their ideas, shape them into compelling proposals, whilst managing a range of relationships with our fantastic family of funders and partners. Working alongside the Head of Development, the Director of Development and Partnerships and the wider Director’s Group, you will also contribute to future planning as we enter our next strategy period.
If you’re inspired by their mission, are looking for a new challenge and want to work for a forward-thinking organisation at a really interesting time, they’d love to hear from you.
