LIMF Academy applications are now open, for aspiring Merseyside musicians between the ages of 16-25 to get a kick start in their career.
LIMF Academy gives talent the platform to share stages with some of the worlds greatest artists, gain funding, mentorship, studio time and so much more. For those selected, the Academy offers everything from performance opportunities at LIMF Summer Jam and other regular showcases, to access to an exclusive masterclass day featuring panels of top industry experts. The award-winning scheme is one of the only festival run schemes to gives local young talent the opportunity to share stages with global stars as well as access funding, mentorship, studio time and more.
For the six selected, LIMF Academy will offer performance opportunities across the LIMF weekend, and other regular showcases throughout the year. On top of this, the Academy also offers placement on a 12 month Elite Talent Development Programme to the three most exceptional young artists, bands or producers chosen by the panel. This programme includes:
• Financial investment in their career
• A live session on BBC Introducing with Dave Monks
• Studio time with Steve Levine
• Creation of professional press assets
• Monthly masterclass sessions with industry leaders
• Year-round mentoring by an industry professional
• Showcase opportunities to key press in both Liverpool and London
• Skill development sessions
• London networking events
• Paid membership to Musician’s Union
• Plus much more
Previous success stories include XamVolo who has recently been signed to Universal, and has received substantial support from BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra and 6Music. There’s also Jalen N’gonda, who has played festivals across the UK and worked with acclaimed artists including Motown legend Martha Reeves, and finally Eleanor Nelly who went from the LIMF Academy to the legendary Decca Records.
