Africa Oyé is back in Sefton Park on 22 and 23 June and the team are looking for volunteers to help out with this year’s festival!
What is an Oyé Rep?
Each year, an enormous amount of effort goes into ensuring that the festival takes place. Due to the ever-growing popularity of the event this is becoming increasingly challenging.
That is where you come in!
The role of an Oyé Representative is an essential part of the festival – the opportunity to meet the Oyé audience only comes around once a year. You will be working with the team, focusing on ensuring the survival and growth of the festival by creating positive relations with attendees and raising funds to sustain future festivals.
Throughout the day Oyé Reps will be collecting donations; selling raffle tickets; having attendees complete questionnaires and distributing information about the festival.
This year Oyé falls on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 June. They are looking for support on both days between 12:00 and 21:00 and ask for a minimum of 2 hours of your time, or more if you would like.
The two days are a fantastic celebration of the music and culture of Africa and the diaspora and volunteering will give you an opportunity to be part of the festivities, to meet a variety of people and help keep the event free for future generations.
What Are They Looking For?
Enthusiastic, friendly and helpful people.
An interest in culture, music and some of knowledge of the festival would be an advantage but is not essential.
Practical Considerations
You will need to make your own way to and from the festival site but there are plenty of public transport options and it is a beautiful cycling/walking location.
