Altru Drama CIC are now casting for talented, enthusiastic, and committed actors for ‘How to be Happy’ which will tour in May – July 2022

All actors must be aged 18+. They have to prioritise drivers aged 23+. DBS required (they can support this process if you don’t have a DBS)

How to be Happy is a play about looking for happiness and finding your way in the world.

• 45 minute performance
• Performed to Year 8 and 9 pupils
• No workshops
• Touring nationally (31st May – 13th July inclusive of rehearsal)
• 4 week tour

Alex (15):

Struggling with the pressures of teenage life. Moody, anxious and easily overwhelmed. Alex is written to be played by a male identifying actor.

Molly (16):

Desperate to be popular. Insecure and vulnerable. Molly is written to be played by a female identifying actor.

Luca (15):

Has disappeared into a world of computer games. Confident but seems a bit lost. Luca was originated by a male identifying actor through R&D, but we are open to the option of Luca being played by a male, female or non binary identifying actor.

Fee: ITC minimum. (Based on a 6 day contract as there will be weekend travel days, exact amount per week £494.00)

Due to the nature of this project, they do not require applicants to have a North West base and accommodation would be available for the right candidate during rehearsals and the North West portion of the tour.

Applicants must hold a current DBS (issued within the last 12 months) or be willing to apply for one at their own cost.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Please email jobs@altru.co.uk to request an application form. Please state clearly which role and project you are interested in. (Please note, the mailbox will be monitored and attended to on a Monday, Wednesday and
Thursday)

You will be sent the application form along with an audition scene which they would like you to record as a self tape.

Please complete everything and return to jobs@altru.co.uk along with your CV or spotlight link.
Closing date: 12pm on Wednesday 30th March 2022.

In person auditions on 7th & 8th April 2022 in Liverpool. You will be notified if they would like you to attend the audition on 1st April 2022.

If you are based outside of the North West and cannot travel to audition please let them know – they may be holding How to be Happy auditions in London at a later date.
