Community Development Worker – North Birkenhead Development Trust, closes 20 Jun ’24

Contract Duration: Fixed Term Contract 6 months 15th July – 15th January 2025 (with the intention to extend contract should funding allow)

Location: St James Centre, 344 Laird Street, CH41 7AL

Salary and Hours: £12 per hour, 25 hours per week, Monday – Friday, one Saturday every month.

Responsible to: Centre and Enterprise Co-ordinator/Community Co-ordinator, Trust Manager

The Community Development Worker will be helping bring about social change and improve the quality life for their community, building on the existing work of the trust.

They will do this through the organising and delivering of activities, listening and working with local people, collaborating with volunteers, and extending their community offer, with a particular focus on early years and families.

They are looking for someone who will be committed to the community and the ethos of the Trust, creative and positive, and able to work in a busy every changing environment. It’s takes all kinds of people to make the Centre run, we have to be able to wear lots of different hats, and always work with compassionate, kindness and fun!

To prepare and deliver a variety of projects – including their Holiday Activity Program, and a new early years and families provision.

To create and deliver new activities and events to be part of the community calendar, based around the communities desires.

Help raise the profile of NBDT in our local community, through door knocking, flyer dropping and coffee mornings.

Support the day to day running of the Centre, including covering reception, setting up rooms for meetings, and other tasks to ensure the centre runs smoothly.

Identity community issues, work with the wider NBDT team and partner organisations to problem solve.

Encourage participation in existing activities

Recruit new volunteers

Encourage Parent/Carer involvement with all children’s activities

Support families within the ethos of North Birkenhead Development Trust
