Happy Valley Pride celebrates LGBTQ+ life in Hebden Bridge and the surrounding areas, promoting equality and diversity to eradicate discrimination, based on sexual orientation and gender identity, through art, education and engagement.
The Creative Youth Engagement Practitioner will be responsible for working closely with primary and secondary school teachers and leaders in Calderdale, leading and delivering Happy Valley Pride’s Youth Engagement Programme.
The Creative Youth Engagement Practitioner will play a leading role in the provision of quality creative learning for young people around LGBTQ+ life in Calderdale and the surrounding areas through education and art, and will help to further develop Happy Valley Pride as a valued and influential partner in LGBTQ+ equality and human rights.
This key post will report to the Artistic Director, working closely with and supporting primary and secondary school teachers and leaders to run a programme of creative activities and assemblies forming an arts project that will be presented as part of Happy Valley Pride Festival 2021.
Happy Valley Pride’s Youth Engagement Programme aims to ensure that all young people have the inspiration, knowledge, and opportunities they need to help them learn about LGBTQ+ life and the issues faced by their community.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong communication skills, able to absorb key information quickly and work well with a small team in a dynamic working environment.

Appointment Terms: Approximately 16 days between January and July 2021, with potential for a second project in 2022 if funding permits.
Remuneration: Total fee of £2400 for planning and delivery of the project, paid in instalments.
Additional Terms: This is a freelance position which would suit a self-employed individual. Ideally, the successful candidate will have their own car in order to travel to the variety of schools involved.
