This October, the Giants are returning to Liverpool for a four-day last hurrah centered around ‘Liverpool’s Dream’. Culture Liverpool are looking for artist/curators to respond to the theme and bring to life two ‘Giant Dreams’ installations.
When you sleep, what do you dream of? What do you dream of being? Who would you follow in the footsteps of? What dreams do you have of the future? What dreams will you pass on to your children or grandchildren, the next generation?
These questions are being asked of Liverpool and Wirral-based school children and young people (the dream catchers) as part of Culture Liverpool’s education and engagement programme accompanying the third and final visit of the world’s leading street theatre company, Royal De Luxe.
The event and Engagement Programme is supported by Arts Council England.
The theme of the four-day performance is ‘Liverpool’s Dream’ – a story that has been written by the company, in response to the spirit and the character of Liverpool. The event will run from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 October 2018. Our Liverpool Dream Catchers are being asked to respond to these themes in the following ways:
- Design and create appliqued and embroidered picnic blankets for use at two Giant Picnics in the Park on Friday 5th October (Liverpool and New Brighton).
- Design and create t-shirts, football shirts, pyjamas and other art work inspired by dreaming and the themes of the performance. These will be displayed in exhibitions titled Giant Dreams, 4 to 31 Oct (TBC) in two locations – one Wirral and one Liverpool.
