Create a brooch in the style of a Dorset Button, thread-covered buttons made with embroidery stitches. Participants will follow a demonstration to make a decorative button that can be worn as a brooch or used to decorate clothing or accessories.
Alternatively, you can make a small collection of buttons in different sizes to frame. Everyone will leave with a finished piece and the skills to continue independently.
The workshop is led by local textile artist Nawal Gebreel. Her work is inspired by tactile textures, nature, Japanese paper-folding and shibori techniques, as well as her travels across Europe, Russia, China, Japan, and the Americas. Using rich colours and luxurious fabrics, she creates handcrafted, wearable art with exceptional craftsmanship.
