Shakespeare North Playhouse is being created through a mixture of public, private and philanthropic funding. Knowsley Council has contributed £12.2m, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority £11m and National Government £8m.
Alongside this sits significant philanthropic funding, including a major donation from the Ken Dodd Charitable Foundation Trust.
They are announcing the first programme of work on our stages, in our performance garden and across our building in March with tickets going on sale at the end of April. The venue will open this summer.
To form an element of their celebration of the Year of Spoken Word, in line with Liverpool City Region’s literacy drive, we are now offering a yearlong residency to a Spoken Word Producer and Performer.
They are keen to receive applications from artists specialising in any form of spoken word, such as rap, performance poetry, storytelling, and comedy, and are particularly interested in experimental, innovative and socially engaged practice.
