That Theatre Group’s vision is to bring joy and meaningful therapeutic engagement to older people living with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other neurological diseases, through a magical theatrical experience.
Audiences will hear the memories of winters past from over 100 care home residents and can expect a multi-sensory extravaganza of striking visuals, enchanting characters and sing-a-long Christmas classics.
Their team of creatives are currently based in a care home in Liverpool for 10 weeks whilst they create the show with regular activities being delivered with residents, their loved ones and staff.
Arts Council England is financially supporting the project, but they require match funding to enable them to tour the show and deliver regular activities in care homes. Every penny received will be invested in this unique, beautiful and important project.
The cost to care homes is only £50 per show.
Sadly, winter is not a joyous time for everyone, and in today’s world, everybody knows of someone living with dementia or older people living in care. You may be grappling with the difficulties or your own loved one’s care plan, or making the difficult decision of whether to place them in care or not. Your support will help them to bring magic and connection to those who desperately need it at this time of year.
Your generous donation will be used for costs to cover touring the show to 30 care homes across Merseyside in November and December, and will ensure they bring a smile to as many care home residents and their loved ones as possible this Christmas.
That Theatre Group’s Executive Producer is Peter Ward, founder of COoL (Creative Organisations of Liverpool), who led the collective for its first 7 years and was also Director of Hope Street Ltd.
