Future Yard and Off The Ground Theatre reunite for a festive adventure packed with live psychedelic rock, outrageous characters and Wonderland-sized chaos.
Future Yard is bringing a twist to a Christmas classic with its second Gig Panto, created in collaboration with Off The Ground Theatre. This December, Alice in Wonderland will take audiences on a psychedelic musical journey through a surreal, Merseyside-inspired Wonderland.
Forget traditional pantomime – Future Yard’s Gig Panto brings a riotous mix of live music, comedy and festive mayhem, with a psychedelic spin on a classic fairytale. When Alice’s perfect demo track is stolen by a frantic White Rabbit, she follows him down an enchanted acoustic rabbit hole and finds herself back in Wonderland. But this is no ordinary fairytale. Ruled by the outrageous Queen of Hearts, Wonderland’s underground music scene is hiding a scandalous secret. Alice must out-rock the royal entourage, recover her music
and expose the Queen’s deception.
Combining the irreverence of traditional pantomime with the energy of a live gig, the production features a full band performing psychedelic classics by The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, 13th Floor Elevators, Love, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones, alongside festive favourites.
Mat Oliphant, Co-Director of Off The Ground Theatre, said:
“We couldn’t be more excited to return to Future Yard this festive period with another spectacularly whacky Gig Panto. We’re packing in more adventure, laughs and ridiculous characters, with the incredible new space at Future Yard giving us the freedom to level up
the production.”
