Liverpool is a city where music is our lifeblood.
Thanks to The Beatles, Liverpool and music are synonymous but the city has a rich and diverse music history that reaches back to our port history and the global links that created a melting pot of cultural traditions. This shaped a unique character and diversity of artistic output that has led to more Number 1 hits than anywhere else – it’s no wonder the city is recognised as ‘World Capital of Pop’ by the Guinness Book of Records.
Music and culture have been at the centre of the city’s renaissance over the past 15 years. Working with partners, Liverpool City Council wish to appoint an exceptional and experienced professional to lead our designation as a UNESCO City of Music and to establish a Liverpool Music Office which creates a single point of entry for the music sector. This new post will work alongside the newly formed Liverpool City Region Music Board to lead on ‘Developing a Liverpool City of Music Strategy’ taking the city’s music offer to new heights and reinforcing the city’s position as a global music hub.
