Incredible new Beatles visitor attraction planned to open in the city for 2028

Event

Culture Liverpool have revealed that an incredible new Beatles visitor attraction is planned to open in the city, attracting visitors from across the world.

The proposed 100,000 sq ft development will be more than four times the size of the existing Beatles Story and will use immersive technology, original artefacts and reconstructed sets to take visitors through the band’s story, from post-war Liverpool to Hamburg, The Cavern, Beatlemania, Abbey Road, Shea Stadium and Savile Row. It will open in 2028 on the site of St John’s Shopping Centre with a Yellow Submarine-themed attraction being created in St John’s Beacon, bringing the areas back into active use.

The long-running, award-winning The Beatles Story attraction will move from its current home in Albert Dock to the brand-new site that was formerly St John’s Market in St John’s Shopping Centre. This ambitious plan will see The Beatles Story move into the hands of Apple Corps, the company founded in 1968 to oversee The Beatles’ creative and business interests. It will be the first official fan experience the company operates in Liverpool, creating a truly world-class, authentic destination befitting the world’s greatest musical legacy. This new iteration of The Beatles Story is scheduled to open in 2028.

This is a defining moment in Liverpool’s cultural journey. The opening of this world class attraction right in the heart of the city centre is testament to both The Beatles enduring legacy and Liverpool’s evolution into a leading European destination.

Bringing this official Beatles visitor experience project to life represents a major partnership between the City Council, Combined Authority and Apple Corps, the organisation that has managed the business interests of The Beatles since 1968. The landmark investment celebrates Liverpool’s unique place in Beatles history while delivering regeneration, jobs, skills, city-centre renewal and long-term economic benefits across the Liverpool City Region.
