Curious Minds recently invited Local Cultural Education Partnerships to apply for funding for #LetsCreate packs.
This is an initiative led by Arts Council England (ACE), aimed at giving those children and young people in primary and secondary schools who are most in need access to creative materials in their homes.
The Liverpool Cultural Education Partnership submitted an application led by Comics Youth CIC, who have already successfully distributed their #StaySafeClub packages to hundreds of young people across the city.
The application was successful and they are now working with National Museums Liverpool (NML), Tate Liverpool, Virtual Schools Liverpool (the Looked After Children’s education service) and Liverpool Learning Partnership to identify young people aged 8-16 who are most in need, and distribute the packs to them.
There is limited space in these packs, which will contain materials designed with young people at Comics Youth, as well as resources supplied by ACE, Curious Minds, Tate Liverpool and NML.
They plan to include a specially-designed comic-style post-card in the packs which will link to a ‘Padlet’ (a web page) listing the wide range of local cultural organisations offering activities and support to children and young people.
They are now inviting you to send the following, to help them signpost children and young people to you clearly:
- A link to ideally just ONE specific web page that is most relevant for young people aged 8-16 (if you have different links for projects and resources for this age range, they can’t guarantee to accommodate them all, though they’ll do their best.
- A short paragraph of information about your offer that they can include alongside this link in the Padlet (no more than 150 words in young-person-friendly language).
They have limited time to distribute the packs before people are on leave over the summer holidays, so please apply by Friday 10th July.
Also – they are planning to sustain contact with the children and young people who receive these packs. They hope to send them a second pack some time during the Autumn term and continue to communicate ongoing and new offers.
If you have materials that you think would be suitable for including in this second pack, please let them know. They will do another call-out about after the Summer.
