Liverpool European Partnership is delighted to announce the launch of the Liverpool European Christmas Trail, a festive programme of 10 unique events taking place between 22 November 2025 and 11 January 2026, celebrating the diverse Christmas traditions of Europe and bringing communities together across the city.
The Trail invites Liverpool residents and visitors to experience authentic seasonal customs from across Europe, from Nordic and German festive services to Romanian storytelling, Ukrainian carolling, Spanish family celebrations and Italian Befana traditions. Hosted in churches, libraries and community venues, the programme offers free or affordable events designed to be welcoming, inclusive and culturally enriching.
The Trail officially started on 22 November with the Traditional Nordic Christmas Bazaar at Gustaf Adolf Church and concludes on 11 January 2026 with the joyful Italian celebration Arriva la Befana! at Mossley Hill Hilltop Centre.
This initiative strengthens connections between Liverpool’s local communities and its European heritage, offering opportunities for cultural exchange, social interaction and meaningful festive experiences for families, individuals and older residents alike.
“The Liverpool European Christmas Trail is about more than celebrating traditions — it is about creating moments where people from different backgrounds meet, share stories and feel a sense of belonging. At its heart, this Trail reminds us that culture has the power to unite us, especially at Christmas.” said Gosia McKane, Director of Liverpool European Partnership.
“Liverpool has always been a city of connection, and this Trail reflects that spirit beautifully. By sharing Europe’s Christmas traditions, we are building bridges between communities and creating spaces where culture, kindness and understanding can flourish.”
