This role will be at the heart of bidding for future events and is critical to delivering the existing event portfolio which includes a ground-breaking inclusive multisport and cultural festival, hosting the stage 2 finish of the Tour de France and being a UEFA EURO 2028 host city.

The role:
- The role of Major Sports Events Manager will provide leadership and operational delivery for key major sporting events across Liverpool and the Liverpool City Region, including Stage 2 finish of the Tour de France in 2027
- Delivery of the Major Sports Events Manager role will include leading Host City planning, managing events specific workstreams and ensuring all commitments to partners, governing bodies and stakeholders are met to the highest standard
- In the role of Major Sports Events Manager, you will support major event bidding, contribute to the 10year Major Sports Event Strategy and manage relationships with partners such as National Governing Bodies, UK Sport and international federations
- The role of Major Sports Events Manager requires strong project leadership, effective stakeholder management and the ability to deliver high profile events that ensure worldclass athlete, spectator and resident experiences
- Your demonstrable knowledge as a Major Sports Events Manager will include project and events management, budget management, event governance, operational planning, bidding, and managing freelance event teams
- The role of Major Sports Events Manager will also support the governance of Sport Liverpool Board, oversee day to day delivery of allocated events, deputise for the Head of Major Sports Events where required and ensure sustainability, accessibility and social value are embedded into all planning
This post is fixed term for the purpose of delivering the 2026 – 2028 culture and sports event programme and will end October 2028.
