Fat Out is excited to announce a residency opportunity for musicians/artists to come to Islington Mill to create new work that will be premiered both as an online stream and to a socially distanced audience.
The residency will be part of the programme for the 2020 version of Fat Out Fest.
Fat Out were planning their most ambitious version of FOF to date working with 12 curatorial partners across 5 venues in Salford, however due to COV-19 they postponed all those plans to Halloween weekend 2021.
However as lockdown eases and events are starting to open again, Fat Out with support from Arts Council England, Salford Council and Islington Mill are producing a version of their festival sensitive to new guidelines.
The Criteria:
- They are looking for collaborative work with musicians/artists who work within both the audio and visual stratospheres.
- The outcome of the residency must be a live show which will be performed twice (matinee & evening showings) for a socially distanced live audience and an online streamed audience.
- The final performance must be enjoyable for a seated audience.
- You can be at any stage of your career & work within any genre/medium.
- The residency can be used as development for an existing project or an entirely new idea.
What they are offering:
- £1000 artist fee.
- £500 materials budget to be managed by the artist.
- Accommodation and hospitality for up to x6 people for duration in the Islington Mill artist B&B.
- Use of a warehouse behind Islington Mill for the duration of residency & performance.
- Facilitation and organisational support to make your ideas come into fruition.
How to Apply:
- Fill in the online application form here.
- Deadline – Friday 28th August. 13.00.
- The successful candidate will be informed w/c 14th September.
- All applicants will be informed of the outcome, however they will not be able to provide feedback for unsuccessful candidates.
