Liverpool ONE is running its much-loved piano festival, Tickle the Ivories, this summer and they’re inviting artists once again to design one of 7 pianos which will take pride of place and be played in prominent locations on the estate.
This year’s theme is Music Legends, including a special piano inspired by Taylor Swift.
Global superstar Taylor Swift is bringing her Eras Tour to Anfield Stadium in June, shortly followed by Pink’s Summer Carnival.
They’ll have Tom Jones and Status Quo in Bootle, Girls Aloud at the Arena, and International Beatle Week taking over venues around the Cavern Quarter. Not to mention a celebration of the legendary Mathew Street Festival at Pier Head in August.
It’s 50 years since Abba won Eurovision, the 60th anniversary of The Beatles’ A Hard Day’s Night, and not that long ago Grammy Award Winner, Diana Krall, tickled these very ivories while she was in the city with Elvis Costello.
They celebrate many more high-profile musicians from Liverpool or who have taken to the stage here over the years including Cilla Black, The Zutons, Elton John, Take That, and The Rolling Stones to name but a few.
Now is your chance to create a piano design inspired by or dedicated to your favourite music legend with links to Liverpool.
They’re looking for:
– A piano designed to celebrate Taylor Swift’s performances in the city
– 6 other pianos dedicated to Music Legends.
You can submit one or multiple designs for different musicians and we will select 7 different musicians from all the submissions, including one for Taylor Swift.
Proposed fee – £550 per piano.
Please submit initial proposal by – 9am on Monday 13 May 2024.
