M6 enables and empowers local children and young people aged 5-18 to create their own theatre and creative work through our exciting participatory programme.
By working closely with our public sector commissioners, alongside voluntary sector, wellbeing and education partners, we reach and connect participants from different cultural, social and economic backgrounds, including those living with a disability. Sessions and projects are sensitively structured to build confidence, enhance creative and life skills, improve wellbeing and offer new opportunities to develop positive friendships. Our outreach programme has worked with a diverse range of young people from Rochdale, such as young carers, refugees and members of the travelling community.
Our full participatory programme includes four Youth Theatre groups including one specifically for children and young people living with a disability, one outreach project per term, our annual Linking Schools project, a bi-annual NT Connections project, summer projects and other ad hoc workshops according to demand.
