This is an exciting opportunity to join the audience research and advocacy team at the Science Museum Group (SMG), to aid their mission to inspire futures and aid implementation of their new ten-year Learning Strategy.
Audience research is key to their new approach which is audience-centred, equitable, evidence-based, collaborative, relevant, agile, efficient and sustainable. To help them in this work, they are now recruiting for a Senior Audience Researcher to join them at the Science & Industry Museum (SIM) in Manchester on a permanent basis.
As Senior Audience Researcher, you will conduct audience research and advocate for the needs of audiences at SIM. You will support the development of their new permanent galleries, temporary exhibitions, learning resources and programmes to ensure they are genuinely audience-centred and deliver inspiring, engaging, and memorable learning experiences.
You will be involved in conducting and overseeing the commissioning of research and sharing best practice across SMG in areas related to audience engagement and specifically, digital engagement. You will influence the content of their exhibitions, ensuring projects are always focused on their audiences.
Joining them, you will have significant experience of using a wide range of audience research techniques and methodologies along with a range of associated research skills, such as data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present your ideas concisely, and influence a range of internal and external stakeholders, including at a senior level.
As Senior Audience Researcher, you will be able to make sound evidence-based decisions by exploring viable options to resolve issues, and ultimately be committed to making learning accessible and open for all.
