As the retail environment on the high street has become much tougher, the Bluecoat Display Centre have experienced reduced sales and a huge increase in their cost base. They need your support more than ever.
The past year has been increasingly challenging for them as a small independent charity that relies on the sales of their brilliant makers’ work to cover all the charity’s costs and enables them to do their much-valued charitable work. They have short term challenges that they need to get through and longer-term issues that with a more buoyant economy and your targeted support, they are hopeful that they can manage.
They would not ask for your help if they did not need it.
A total of £30,000 raised could help them to keep going until Spring when they must think again. They are seeking not only this bridge to a slightly safer haven, but permanent long-term capital.
They are appealing for straightforward donations. They can enhance them with Gift Aid where applicable, which will give an extra 25p for every £1 donated where the circumstances fit.
The Bluecoat Display Centre closing would be a huge loss. They have contributed to Liverpool’s / NW region’s cultural offer for 65 years:
- Representing leading applied artists from across the UK for Liverpool/NW audiences – historically, supported makers who have become internationally renowned.
- Recognition of the support and vital income through the high-quality exhibition/sales platform we have offered to thousands of craft makers across all disciplines, at every career stage.
- They have long supported early career makers offering regular graduate exhibition awards (at that vital stage when they emerge from courses and have ambitions to become studio-based makers but need opportunities) in partnership with NW higher education partners Liverpool Hope University and Manchester School of Art.
- Supporting the health, wellbeing, and cohesion of our communities: Health and social care partners over past 12 years include Liverpool Wellbeing Centres under the PSS (Person Shaped Support) umbrella, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Liverpool, The Life Rooms – NHS Merseyside, Heys Court – Garston, Clock View hospital – Walton, The Walton Centre, the Royal Liverpool University & Broadgreen Hospitals and Maggie’s Wirral. All this work is realised through their own fundraising efforts supported by their partners.
