Trainee Producer – Putting Stuff On! closes 10 Sept ’25

Artist-Led St Helens are delivering a programme of activity under the heading of the Free Art School. This will provide different ways for creative people and artists of all kinds to develop their work.

They’d like to commission someone who can create a celebratory event in December that brings together creatives and artists in a celebration of their work. They’re relating their programme to periods of a traditional school year, so think of this like the PTA in a school; you’ll be bringing together enthusiastic members of the creative community to stage the Christmas Play or Christmas Fair.

Fee: £2000 fixed rate contract. This is a freelance role and you will be responsible for your
own taxes.
Location: St. Helens (Hybrid working available, flexible hours).
Contract Type: Project-based
Duration: September – December 2025

This is a development role for someone from St Helens to develop their skills in production and facilitation. You will be able to access support from the Artist-Led St Helens artist team who have extensive experience in producing and facilitating workshops and events and they can support you to connect with regional mentors and development opportunities through our programme.

The successful applicant will:
● Have a strong connection to St Helens
● Be registered or prepared to register as Self-Employed (if this is new to you, we have resources to support you to do this)
● Have a background in the arts and be interested in Putting Stuff On with and for the local and creative community.
● Have a clear idea about the type of event they can deliver – successful applications often make the selectors understand ‘Why this person? Why this approach? Why now?”
● Be generous with their ideas, curious about other artists’ work and want to make a difference to the arts within St Helens.
