They are looking for enthusiastic people who want to be part of the evolving and further development of Lister Steps, ensuring that it meets the needs of those who use our services in a positive and innovative way. They need trustees who have the time and commitment to attend regular Board Meetings. They welcome people with any of the following skills: Finance, Income generation, Fundraising, Marketing, Event Management, HR, Project Management and IT/website skills. They are interested in recruiting people who have disabilities, people from different ethnic backgrounds and people who use their services, all of which are currently under-representedon their Board.
What are they looking for?
They are looking for trustees with a range of skills and experience. These include Marketing and Event Management, Income Generation, Finance, leadership, Digital/IT, Project Management, Childcare and Youth Work. In addition they look for people with a commitment to the organisation, a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort, strategic vision, an ability to speak their mind and an ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
What difference will you make?
As a member of the Board, the trustees shape their work and direction and help to achieve their aims. The trustees work in partnership with the CEO and Senior Management team. Trustees with specialist skills may join sub-committees and work alongside key staff or volunteers. One of their trustees, for example is the Board representative on their new ‘Friends of The old Library’ group. Trustees are invited to attend and support community events and activities, depending on their availability. Some trustees prefer just to offer their expertise and knowledge at Board Meetings.
