Where the Arts Belong is a unique three-year research project, conducted by Bluecoat in partnership with innovative care village operator Belong.
Their aim is to effectively embed the arts into new care environments and enrich the lives of people living with dementia and their families.
The first phase of the project has seen six critically acclaimed artists take up pilot residencies at Belong Crewe to engage customers, staff and members of the wider community in an array of creative activities, ranging from storytelling and sculpture to music and dance.
Completing at the end of June 2019, the residency scheme proved a huge success at the village, with reports that residents are happier and more engaged as a result.
Where the Arts Belong is part of Bluecoat’s commitment to enabling access to the transformative power of creativity and the arts and their support of artists and their practice. The collaboration with Belong continues at the new villages in Chester and Birkdale, opening in 2020 and 2021.
