During the 2018 Chinese New Year, five schools and organisations from Hong Kong collected 50,000 lucky money envelopes. 2018. Cathay Pacific airline has kindly flown these recycled envelopes to Liverpool.
Pagoda Arts Centre are calling out for volunteers, schools and community groups to join in and help fold these 50,000 envelopes into fishes, lanterns and the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac between now and January. At the end of January 2019, the artist Barbara Disney will come and install a massive ‘Pigsy’, a character from the famous Chinese story Journey To The West. It will be displayed at the Museum of Liverpool for a month from 1 February 2019.
