Liverpool Lighthouse is a charity with an arts and community venue in North Liverpool with a 430-seat auditorium, recording studios, dance studio and plans to develop a community cinema and a commitment to working with the city’s artists to transform communities through creative engagement and practical support.
As a black-led organisation with a Christian foundation and ethos, Liverpool Lighthouse is developing as the national gospel music centre. The charity’s track record of work with communities including families, young people, elders and refugees and asylum seekers was recognised by the Chamber of Commerce Charity of the Year Award 2018.
Liverpool Lighthouse is embarking on a new journey with the appointment of a Creative Director and new vision to develop the organisation as an arts and community venue. They aim to be a beacon of light to the most vulnerable and to work with communities to transform the city.
Young people are a priority focus for the organisation with current work mainly focusing on age 8 – 25yrs. Youth Mentor is a vital role to provide pastoral support to children and young people engaging at LLH to actively support their participation, mental wellbeing and development.
The role requires youth work and mentoring skills and collaborative practice to support young people in their transition to adulthood as well as advocating for young people and those from marginalised and disadvantaged groups. The role is expected to be committed to equality and diversity and understand and uphold the Christian ethos of the organisation.
Youth Mentor 32 hours £21, 735 – £25, 825 pro rata
- Provide pastoral support for children and young people engaging across all LHH youth activity through listening, one to one mentoring, development plans and signposting/supporting them in accessing activity/support externally
- Support mental wellbeing for young people and work with staff to develop activity and the environment to enhance wellbeing
- Develop and maintain effective and up to date administrative systems to manage young people’s information.
- Train and supervise volunteers for Youth Connect activities
