Community-led Organisations – Lightpool Community Engagement, closes 17 Jun ’24

They value the opportunity to work with a range of local organisations, expert in working with particular communities. They welcome a collaborative approach to delivering the requirements summarised in the briefs. They are looking to commission multiple community-led organisations to deliver all or parts of the engagement.

Ideally, they would like to procure engagement from multiple community-led organisations that are embedded in and working with local communities, who are able to act as a trusted voice and to encourage participation. They are supportive of small organisations collaborating with one another to deliver what is set out in their proposals.

They have opportunities for new projects in 2024

PROJECT 1

It’s a small world.

Several compact boxes either side of a central pole, will showcase five 30/40 seconds video projection works. They are searching for innovative ideas to bring the idea of ‘It’s A mall World’ to life through the mesmerizing art of projection mapping.

Through light art, video mapping and 3D animations, they are seeking a creative and immersible visual experience that captivates and engages viewers

PROJECT 2

Making Art with plastic waste

Recycling workshops to create illuminated artworks. This installation will be an environmental statement of course, but it is also a community project involving local residents, fuelling a collaborative and eco-friendly project; using recycled plastic bottles. where the process is as important as the results.

Wildlife and nature provide an unbridled source of inspiration for injecting poetic magic into artwork for LP 2024

PROJECT 3

Pitch Your Idea

They are seeking project proposals from organisations to deliver a new project engaging with our local community. Targeting groups who do not usually engage with the Lightpool Festival, and break down barriers, to increase cultural participation and create long term relationships.

Your creative project should include one of the key Lightpool strands – art, light, music, performance.

Artists / Collectives / Promoters / Record labels – Brighter Sound Creative Commissions, closes 30 Jun ’24

Brightersound are commissioning innovative new work that examines or challenges the future of the music industry and global music cultures.

Open to artists, collectives, promoters or labels, if selected you’ll be given a £5,000 budget to bring your idea to life!

You’ll have between June-October 2024 to develop your work before it’s showcased, be that a live event, online or something for print

Contributors – Collective Encounters, Radical Retrospectives Launch, held 10 Jun ’24

Collective Encounters celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Since 2004 we have been working across Liverpool City Region and beyond to centre the unheard stories of the communities who shape the region’s grassroots culture, through a time of huge political and social change.

Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Radical Retrospectives is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The project, will document and contextualise the stories of marginalised individuals and communities within the Liverpool City Region, and look at the next chapters for the future.

South Asian artists – Here To Remember commission, Daytimers Brighter Sound, closes 16 Jun ’24

Building on the success of the https://www.brightersound.com/the-feed/here-to-remember-artists/ – first Here to Remember, this commission is for South Asian and South Asian mixed heritage artists.

Curated by https://www.instagram.com/daytimers_uk/ – Daytimers, a collective championing the sounds, stories and voices of South Asian creative communities, as part of the commission you’ll take part in group workshops and archival research, with one-to-one mentoring to support your creative process.

If chosen you’ll spend the summer and early autumn exploring collective memory and heritage through your own experiences of history, memory and lineage.

Global Majority Performers Needed – Rubbish Shakespeare Company, closes 5 Jun ’24

Not only are they seeking new performers to be Rubbish with them- they want to offer you a chance to learn some Rubbish, too. They’re an award-winning theatre company who have been producing critically-acclaimed theatre for 14 years!

Are you ready to develop your skills in comedy and Shakespearean performance in an inclusive and open environment? AND at the same time, audition to be part of the Rubbish Shakespeare family? Look no further! The Rubbish Shakespeare Company invites you to an engaging and inclusive workshop audition that’s not just fun – it’s Rubbish with a capital R!

At the end of the workshop audition, all participants will develop their skills and practice in the following areas:

– adapting Shakespeare’s scripts (and making them relevant)

– performing Shakespeare’s language

– improvisation and devising

– comedy and clowning

– workshop facilitation

Plus, you may be offered the opportunity to join the Rubbish Shakespeare ranks at the end of it!

Flatmates Bon and Sammy are engaging in their favourite pass time of the week, Stardust Sundays. This week’s theme is spa but things are different, they’re living in an apocalypse and Sammy wants to go outside.

The AIR Open is back for 2024- this time at a new location; Rogue Artist Studios CIC. This means this years show is going to be bigger and better than ever before with up to 60 works being chosen for selection and up to £2000 worth of prizes to be won!
