Creative Roles – ArtsGroupie, closes 14 Sept ’25

Rotten Apple is the first play in the Windows of a Woman trilogy, premiering at Unity Theatre on 3rd and 4th December 2025.

Set in 1990s Manhattan, it follows a young woman from Liverpool chasing her dream of a bigger, brighter life. Hungry for more than her working-class beginnings could offer, she dives into the electric chaos of New York – rooftop parties, yellow taxis, jazz bars, and the thrill of love. But dreams aren’t always kind. When reality fractures her fantasy, she’s forced to confront the darkness hidden beneath the city’s shimmer.

With themes of mental health, class, love, and identity, Rotten Apple is a raw, poetic exploration of what it means to risk everything for a dream and how easily that dream can rot from the inside.

A bold new voice in feminist theatre, this debut piece asks: what happens when the window of youth slams shut?

Northern Artists – People’s Powerhouse, opens 30 Aug ’25

People’s Powerhouse is setting out on a unique and exciting coast-to-coast journey from the northwest to the northeast, celebrating people power along the way. They will be bringing Northerners together, exploring community strengths, listening to what you would like to see more, or less of, in your communities.

They will be hosting get-togethers where you can join group conversations about your community, or about the things that matter to you, as well as meet new people involved in local projects. By weaving together your voices they will build a collective Northern voice that recognises the power of people coming together. They’ll be amplifying your great ideas, brilliant projects and pressing issues to powerful decision makers at our infamous ‘This is the North’ Annual Convention in November and beyond.

How to get involved?

  • Join them at a get together near you (Keep updated via their website and social media)
  • Do you already have your own community meet ups planned? If so, why not invite them to join in as they make their way across the North? Tea and cakes on them!
  • Submit your answer to us on social media or website
