Call for speakers – Ignite Liverpool, held 2 July

On the 2nd July  at Liverpool’s Central Library, Ignite Liverpool is hosting an event  to discuss the topic ‘Liverpool 2050: how can we build a resilient city – one that is thriving, fair and sustainable?’

As part of this they are looking for makers, doers, innovators, enthusiasts and helpers to share ideas, plans and projects on the following areas:

Transport

Transport is the second-largest contributor to carbon emissions in Liverpool. So what does travel look like in 2050? Is it hydrogen and electric, or pedal and public powered?

Food

We’ve experienced a number of shocks over recent years that show we don’t have food security in the UK – does resilience lie with our food co-ops, growers, allotmenteers, faith groups, foodbanks and zero-waste communities?

Energy

Similarly, we know the UK does not have energy security, or a particularly comprehensive plan to decarbonise and future-proof the system – so how are big public projects, local energy communities and individuals combining efforts here?

Homes and communities

Our homes are the places we’re supposed to feel safe – but many are trapped with high rent, high bills and more – where are the communities in the city bold enough to reimagine the place we call home?

They’re really keen to have Liverpool-specific talks – what has worked, what hasn’t and what are some potential solutions for the future?

Ignite Liverpool has been running events in Liverpool since 2010 and has had hundreds of speakers over those years.

Their lightning fast talks are achieved by making sure everyone talks in the same format…. a 20 slides powerpoint with their talk delivered in 5 minutes. Enlightening Liverpool one talk at a time.

If you would like to take part at this special event you’ll need to let them know by filling in a form on their website first and be willing to prepare that fast paced 20 slide presentation.

You can find out more here on their website: https://igniteliverpool.com/ignite-liverpool-futures-2022/
