Sound Check Programme Lead Tutor – Future Yard, closes 2 Oct

Are you an experienced live music sector professional? Are you passionate about sharing your knowledge with young people? Do you want to help develop the next generation of live sector professionals? Do you want to be a part of an exciting new flagship music collaboration?

We are delighted to offer a unique opportunity to lead our successful Sound Check programme, the result of a partnership between Future Yard CIC and The Learning Foundry. Sound Check provides young people with the opportunity to gain the skills and experience needed to pursue a career in the live music industry.

We are looking to recruit a Sound Check Programme Lead Tutor – in partnership with The Learning Foundry – to lead on the delivery of our Sound Check programme, as part of the expanding skills and training offer at Future Yard.

As Programme Tutor, you will deliver engaging and inspiring training and employment programmes to support young people to achieve their goals and introduce them to the skills they need to pursue a career in the live music industry.

You will support learners to gain hands-on skills at live events, which will lead to opportunities for them to progress into employment, apprenticeships, and/or Further Education.

Based between Future Yard on Argyle Street in Birkenhead and The Learning Foundry, Sound Check supports young people from all backgrounds to build their skills and knowledge in a real industry setting. The programme is open to those aged 16+ living in the Liverpool City Region. The programme is free for young people to access and designed as an alternative pathway into music industry careers, specifically targeted for those too often excluded from the sector.

We are looking for experienced live music industry professionals with equally good communication skills who aim to inspire and enthuse young people with a love of music and support them to build the skills for a future career in the live music industry.

Successful candidates will have at least five years’ experience in one of the following two areas of the live music industry:

Technical Production

You will have worked professionally as a live sound engineer at a live music venue, theatre or across festivals and touring events. You will have an understanding of live show lighting and AV systems. You will have experience of delivering and leading the technical production in small, touring live music venues.

Event Management

You will have worked professionally in a hands on, live music event delivery role. This may be across event management, artist liaison, tour management, promotion, booking, production management or similar. You will have experience of successfully delivering live shows in small, touring live music venues.

Candidates with experience across both areas are encouraged to apply, but we expect applicants may indeed specialise in one area.

You may also have some teaching experience (though this isn’t essential as full training will be provided) and you will demonstrate a desire to learn and develop professionally. The ability to work on your own initiative, but also as part of a team to deliver collective success, is essential.

If you are an experienced live music industry professional who can demonstrate a passion to work with young people, are positive, creative and professional, we want to hear from you.
