They are looking for an innovative and dynamic communications professional to join their team. You should have the skills and experience to devise and deliver high-impact marketing strategies for Without Walls, and to evaluate the success of these strategies.

Without Walls is a sector facing organisation and you will not be directly engaging audiences or working to ticket sales targets. Instead you will be required to come up with new approaches to engaging a varied range of professional audiences, partners and stakeholders. You should be a hands-on person with attention to detail who thrives using data and analytics, while also being comfortable working at a fast-pace and having the ability to think quickly and creatively.

The Atkinson in Southport is a leading arts centre housing a museum, gallery, library, cafe, shop, theatre and studio. Its theatrical programme embraces a range of art-forms and welcomes performances from both professional companies and community groups.

They are seeking to recruit a Technical Manager to lead on the technical requirements for all productions and events delivered in our Theatre & Studio spaces. This is a crucial role, not only in terms of back-of-house management but also in developing professional relationships and upholding the reputation of the venue.

You will have experience of working at a senior technical level within a theatre and multi-venue arts environment, including staff management.

Technical expertise should include the operation of theatrical electrical systems, lighting technology, electrical safety and sound engineering including operating modern sounds systems for theatre and live music.

A comprehensive understanding of industry compliance and risk management in a performing arts setting is essential to the role, as is the ability to deliver first-line maintenance to theatre equipment and facilities. You will oversee the programme of routine technical repairs and be expected to provide essential and responsive support for performance spaces, helping to bring down maintenance and energy costs. You will be responsible for upholding health and safety standards.

The post-holder will be expected to provide practical hands-on assistance with stage preparation and performance delivery as well as supporting the wider venue as required.

You will be committed to increasing engagement with culture and the performing arts so that The Atkinson maintains its status as a dynamic and evolving regional venue for arts, heritage, literature and information.

Festival Programmer – Homotopia Festival, closes 16 Jan

Homotopia is recruiting for a new role.

All roles are primarily based at the Homotopia office in Liverpool, but some remote and flexible working is possible. 

Festival Programmer

4 days per week
£30,000 FTE (£26,000 p.a. on 4 days a week)
Fixed term for 12 months, starting in February or March 2023.

Homotopia Festival is the UK’s longest running LGBTQIA arts and cultural festival. Every year, we produce a 3 – 4-week eclectic programme of queer arts at venues across Liverpool and online. This includes theatre, film, family-friendly events, dance, cabaret, visual arts and more.

We are looking for an ambitious individual to programme and deliver our 20th festival, in autumn 2023. In addition, this new role will help to support the management of Homotopia’s artist development programme QueerCore.

If you have experience working in LGBTQIA arts, exceptional project management skills and a willingness to get stuck in, alongside our small, dedicated team, this could be your dream role.

Key responsibilities and roles:

  • Programme, coordinate and deliver the festival (with the support of the Executive Director, Board of Trustees and wider team).
  • Research, appoint and gather the input of creative advisors.
  • Negotiate contracts and fees with artists/companies/venues.
  • Engage and manage relationships with venues and other partners.
  • Support the Marketing & Development Manager and freelance Graphic Designer to create a brand and develop marketing content for the festival.
  • Manage the QueerCore programme (with the support of the Executive Director).
  • Support and input on our commissioning work.

Key skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of the landscape of LGBTQIA arts in the UK.
  • Experience managing professional theatre and/or visual arts projects/productions on any scale.
  • Good at budget management and financially literate.
  • Ability to work well with a small team, as well as managing own workload with minimal supervision and to deadlines.
  • An understanding of the arts sector in Liverpool, or commitment to integrating into the local arts scene and queer community (we expect the role holder to be based in or near to the Liverpool City Region, for at least part of their week).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work across multiple different projects at once, and appropriately manage time.
  • Excellence in managing and maintaining professional relationships.
  • A commitment to LGBTQIA equality, and an opposition to homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism and sexism.

Award-winning mentoring charity Arts Emergency is looking for an enthusiastic Fundraising Officer to join the team!

This rewarding role focuses on looking after a large network of donors, updating the fundraising database, thanking donors and conducting research into new funding opportunities.

The successful candidate will be familiar with Institute of Fundraising codes of  practice, UK tax law and data protection legislation. As well as having strong IT and writing skills, they should have one year experience working in a fundraising environment, experience of donor stewardship and fundraising, and experience of event coordination.

This is a permanent, part-time (21 hours per week) role. Salary is £26, 250 pro rata.
