Trafford Music Service provides musical opportunities for children from across the borough. They are committed to enabling children from all backgrounds to access high quality music provision through curriculum teaching, whole class or instrumental lessons and ensembles.

They currently teach in primary and secondary schools across the authority as well as providing an after-school and Saturday morning music provision at our Music Centre based in Sale.

About the Role

This role is for a committed and inspiring piano tutor on Monday daytime and/or Thursday afternoons based in Trafford schools. The successful candidate will take pupils from beginner level upwards and they will be part of a fabulous, inspirational team.

The contract is for 5.5 hours on a Monday, 3 hours on a Thursday (12 – 3pm). They welcome applications from candidates who would like to work either day or both. There is the opportunity to expand this to teaching in our primary and secondary schools should this be of interest.

Salary: £22,394 – £28735 pro rata

Salary Grade: UQT 3 – 6 Teachers Pay and conditions – Unqualified Teacher Pay Scale

Working Pattern: Part Time

The times and days are:

  • Monday 9.00am-3.00pm or 8.40am -2.40pm Trafford Schools
  • Thursday afternoon 12.00-3.00pm Trafford Schools

The working hours for this post are term time only. Candidates should be sure they can commit to every Monday and/or Thursday during term time before applying. They are committed to providing continuity for our pupils and the highest level of instrumental tutoring. Their tutors are contracted on Teachers pay and conditions and therefore have the school holidays off and all tutors are expected to fully commit to all term dates.

The role of the Salford Workshop Leader is a fantastic opportunity to help shape and grow a highly regarded charitable acting institution. They have a reputation for producing exceptionally talented actors and providing young people of all backgrounds and means with the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe, encouraging and nurturing environment, regardless of whether they choose acting careers.

As Salford Workshop Leader, you will be responsible for the teaching, session planning and curriculum development. You will teach all three age ranges, teaching students from age 7 up to 21. You will also be responsible for assisting and supporting the students with self tapes for auditions as well as the creation and direction of any performance projects. Reporting to the Executive Artistic Director, you will work with Nottingham colleagues to promote the overall success of The Workshop.

3 days per week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday – Workshop sessions are delivered in the evenings and all day on Saturdays. In addition, during performance projects, and auditions, further evening and weekend working may be required.

Essential Experience

Strong experience of planning and delivery of sessions

Strong experience of the successful production of performance projects

Good acting industry skills, knowledge and experience

The cook will be the part of driving of the catering offer, working alongside our full time Chef. It’s a hugely varied job with every day being different to the last. The theatre’s small café will serve breakfast, lunch and some pre-show bites.

This is a variable hour role but likely to be up to 20+hours per week.
