Sustainability Manager – Walk the Plank/Green Space Dark Skies, closes 20 Dec

The Sustainability Manager is a key position within the Green Space Dark Skies Production Team and will be responsible for the effective implementation of the GSDS Sustainability Strategy across the scope of the whole project.

You will ensure effective planning and management of the UK-wide monitoring and reporting activity necessary for successful and efficient delivery of the project’s significant sustainability aims and ambitions.

THE PROJECT

Green Space Dark Skies is a Walk the Plank project that has been commissioned by Unboxed: Creativity in the UKGreen Space Dark Skies will see up to 24 spectacular events in the landscape embedded in a 12-month programme of engagement that celebrates the contemporary landscapes of Britain while also flinging open the doors and welcoming people in. The project is UK wide: 13 events in England, four in Scotland, four in Wales and three in Northern Ireland.

Green Spaces Dark Skies places environmental sustainability at its core, aiming to deliver significant positive social and environmental impact for all. We aim to be a carbon net-positive project, combining exemplar low-emissions production with climate investments benefiting nature and communities.

Their future home is The Factory, a world-class cultural space being built in the heart of the city, where they’ll present a year-round programme and artists will be able to develop work of huge ambition and scale that they might not be able to anywhere else.

The Community Partnerships Manager will play a central role in ensuring The Factory has a key civic role and function in Manchester. They will lead on the development of a range of strategic partnerships to ensure The Factory is a useful and functional space for communities as well as a creative venue.

Responsibilities include

  • Develop and implement innovative and original ideas informed by latest thinking in the realm of care for communities
  • Build strategic non arts sector partnerships to maximise the use and function of space at The Factory
  • Work closely with MIF’s Neighbourhood Connector Programme to build wider organisational understanding of the needs of Manchester’s communities
  • Advocate for the civic role and purpose of The Factory internally and externally

As a Starling Sessional Worker you will support the Lead Artist and Project Coordinator with the delivery of creative workshops including:

  • Assisting with travel arrangements for young people.
