Creative Nature Films: Artist – Down to Earth, closes 4 Apr ’25

The team are looking for an artist to feature in our Creative Nature Films, a series of 10 short films showcasing Wigan’s distinctive and historic green spaces.

Each film will feature an artist led activity in nature, demonstrating how to creatively engage with these spaces.

Musical Director – West Kirby Musical Theatre Company, closes 31 May ’25

The Musical Director will be responsible for

  • Planning and leading weekly rehearsals
  • Conducting the company, musicians and soloists at concerts, in shows and at other community events
  • Working with and advising the committee on the choice of show and the selection of music for concerts and other events
  • Working with the committee and advising them on engaging musicians for shows and concerts

The Musical Director may attend the company’s committee meeting when invited by the committee.

Person Specification

The Musical Director should have the knowledge and experience and be able to demonstrate the following behaviours and skills

  • Knowledge of both traditional and modern musical show repertoire which can also be selected and used separately for concerts
  • Experience of directing Musical Theatre Companies
  • Experience of leading adult companies
  • Experience of choosing musical shows and selecting pieces for concerts and other events to encourage audiences and future company members
  • An engaging, enthusiastic and dynamic style that encourages and supports the development of amateur singers and offers opportunities within the company and externally
  • Formal conductor training
  • Proven ability to build relationships with the company’s committee and company members

The Musical Director will be appointed on a self-employed basis with remuneration discussed at interview and subject to yearly review. The successful candidate will not be employed but will be engaged as an independent contractor providing services to the company. They will be responsible for their own income tax liabilities and National Insurance contributions.
