Every Summer North Birkenhead Development Trust deliver a packed summer holiday program of fun, activities and food for children and families. Their holiday program activities aim to support families to make the most of the holidays by spending time together, and enjoy new experiences.

They are currently looking for a committed, motivated and energetic Summer Adventure Worker looking for a challenging role to run and deliver their summer programme at the St James Centre.

Contract Duration: Fixed Term Contract – 7 weeks 15th July – 30th August. 25hrs per week – £12 per hour

Job Description:

To plan, prepare and deliver appropriate, creative activities for children aged 0-10years and their families working closely with the existing volunteer team and NBDT staff at the St James Centre. The Summer theme is ‘If we ruled the world…’ with a focus on sustainability, recycling and being outdoors.

To plan, prepare and deliver outdoor play sessions

To organise and deliver exciting, outdoor focused family day trips

Support the delivery of activities led by outside services

Ensure registers are completed and evaluations are undertaken for all activities

To ensure all resources and toys are kept in an organised manner

Complete all paperwork required to satisfy the funders of the programme

Help to ensure there is a safe environment for all attendees

Provide appropriate models of dealing with children’s behaviour

Encourage Parent/Carer involvement with all activities

Support families within the ethos of North Birkenhead Development Trust

DBS check at enhanced level will be required for this post.

Main duties

  1. Actively engage with HOME’s Vision, Mission and Values in all areas of work
  2. Work closely alongside the Technical Department in delivery of all productions and projects across HOME
  3. Work as part of the team with responsibility for the professional building wide delivery of lighting, sound & video services to all stage performances, gallery events, public events, conferences and related activities within agreed schedules and budgets
  4. Act as Duty Technician on productions, events and projects as required
  5. Working closely with freelance Production Managers and Creative Teams on lighting sound & video requirements, during the pre-production and production periods of our own produced, co-produced and visiting productions
  6. Ensuring that a high technical standard is sustained for every performance and event building wide
  7. Working on shows in performance, events and projects when necessary
  8. Be part of a team responsible for the safe and efficient fitting-up, rigging, operation and getting-out of all HOME produced, co-produced and visiting company productions
  9. Be part of a team responsible for the safe and efficient use of lighting, sound & video equipment and any other mechanical equipment installed in the building whether permanent or temporary
  10. Support the cinema and gallery teams in the delivery of their event programme as and when required

The role is based in the regional internal consultancy but much of your time will involve working externally with partners and stakeholders across the North. You will support national and regional strategic leads for urban green space, working alongside colleagues in operations and the consultancy to share learning, access expertise, and understand the needs of places across the region.

As this role covers the North region, your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust consultancy office to your home. They have an office in Manchester/Altrincham, Newcastle, York and Grasmere. Their hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. They anticipate travel across the region and some national travel will be required. They’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40-60% of your working week.

Most of your time will be focused on ensuring a successful launch and roll out of a new strategic capacity building project that is led nationally but requires coordination at a regional level.
