Costumed Interpreter Volunteer – Port Sunlight Village Trust, closes 20 Aug ’24

As a costumed interpretation volunteer, your role will help them engage visitors with the history of Port Sunlight and enrich the Museum experience.

With provided costumes, you will engage with the public independently, sharing the stories of Port Sunlight and answering questions. Full training will be provided.

Various locations across Port Sunlight Village, mainly in their Museum, Edwardian Cottage and Green Spaces.

Shifts available Wednesday-Sunday mornings and afternoons.

Total Stranger Exhibition Steward Volunteer – Port Sunlight Village Trust, closes 20 Aug ’24

This volunteer role has been designed to support PSVT’s visitor services team to ensure that all visitors to the ‘Total Stranger’ exhibition in Bridge Cottage have an enjoyable experience.

The exhibition is a collection of photographs by Francesco Mellina capturing Liverpool’s music and club scene of 1970s and 80s. You’ll be providing a warm and friendly welcome to their visitors, answering general questions about the exhibition, assisting with the management of visitor flow and visitor numbers, and undertaking audience research on behalf of PSVT, e.g. visitor surveys.

Location: Bridge Cottage, Port Sunlight, Wirral.
Min. 8 hours per month

Volunteer shared reader with ESOL focus – The Reader, closes 31 Jul ’24

The Reader established 15 Shared Reading groups with an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) focus across the UK. Could you join them as they launch their next project in Halton?

These two new Shared Reading groups are needed more than ever and aim to “foster empathy and understanding” with refugees and asylum seekers as well as building community cohesion.

Volunteer Group Coordinator for Tea Parties – Reengage (Work from home)

Tea party group coordinators are a vital part of the Re-engage team.

Tea parties provide a lifeline of friendship for their older people, and the regular, warm, friendly chats and companionship provide a vital link with the outside world from which they have become isolated.

As a tea party group coordinator, you will ensure older guests know when and where the next tea party will be held and who will be collecting them each month. This is an administrative role that requires planning and scheduling, you must be comfortable organising monthly events with volunteer hosts, socialising, communicating with people and resolving issues that might arise.

You will need a DBS (England and Wales) or PVG (Scotland) for this role. Sometimes, tea party group coordinators are also drivers or hosts for their group, but this is not a requirement of being a coordinator.

Activities Volunteer (West Lancashire) – Multiple Sclerosis Society

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that they do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both them and their values locally.

You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.

You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the area the group to carry out this role.

Time Commitment

They estimate this role will need up to two hours a week. Roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

Public Relations and Publicity Volunteer – Reach Volunteering (Wirral)

The team are looking for someone with expertise in the area of publicity and public relations to help raise awareness of their charity and achievements!

What will you be doing?

Tailored Yarn are a social enterprise turning charity that focuses on child bereavement, helping them cope with loss as well as keep the memory of their loved one alive. Theye produce unique fictional literature legacy tailored to each client.

They also dedicate our time to putting on workshops, author talks and bereavement cafes to help people cope with their grief, immortalise the memory of their loved ones and assure them that they are not alone. They take great pride in their work and manage to get quite a lot done however, they are struggling to get it publicised. They want people to know what great work they do so that they have opportunities to do more! If you believe you would be able to help spread the word, please get in touch!

Youth Group Main Leader – Liverpool RSPB Wildlife Explorers

You could be part of a team of like-minded, enthusiastic people who love nature and want younger generations to experience that sense of awe when encountering something new or the excitement of being part of a bigger movement to save nature.

**What do you need to know?**

· You will use your existing skills to lead and motivate a team of dedicated volunteers, delegating tasks by getting to know everyone’s strengths and experiences.

· You will be the main link with the RSPB youth team and be responsible for sharing information to the youth group. The

RSPB Youth Team will support you to ensure the group is using our framework and operating within our standards.

· You will need to be confident with using a computer for example to communicate using email to send required documentation.

· With your team you will plan the programme and run the sessions in a safe and fun way. The programme will be made up of activities where young people can experience and take meaningful action to protect nature.

· You will ensure that the group’s finances are managed in accordance with policies and submit annual financial returns.

· You will liaise with reserves, local groups and other wildlife organisations.

· You will invite regular feedback from your group leaders, and most importantly the young people to evaluate the success of your meetings and work out what needs to be done to be even better.

· You need to enjoy working with young people – they are the heart of what they do.

· You will be asked to complete a variety of training including induction and safeguarding and data protection.

· The youth groups usually meet monthly, and Main Leaders usually spend six to eight hours per month outside of the meetings on the role depending on how the responsibilities are shared within the team.

Retail Volunteer (Great Homer Street) – Barnardos

Barnardos amazing team of vibrant & diverse volunteers help run over 600 shops. Stores sell lots of great donated & new goods to help raise vital funds to make a real difference to disadvantaged children, young people and families across the UK.

Retail stores are the face of their charity on the high-street and in local communities. They have loads of amazing stock donated every week, and this all needs to be sorted, tagged and put on the shop-floor for sale!

Making sure shops look fantastic is another task you can get involved with. You may also be required to help out on the till too, but they will show you how that works during your time volunteering with them. They value the contribution of everyone who supports Barnardo’s.

You will be a friendly face of Barnardo’s by volunteering in one of their shops. It would be great if you could volunteer one shift a week (or even more if you want) but they’re always happy to be flexible to work around your availability.
