Volunteer Coordinator – Chandlers Ford Good Neighbours (Work from home)

Part of the Good Neighbours Network, Chandler’s Ford Good Neighbours is a voluntary organisation set up to help our local community with the kinds of essential tasks that a good neighbour might do for those in need.

This can include driving and escorting people, principally to medical appointments that they would otherwise struggle to attend. They help in excess of 300 clients in the Chandler’s Ford area.

Their coordinators work from home and match requests for help from clients with volunteer drivers. They currently work a one week (Mon-Fri) in six/seven rota but this is flexible and we will always look to work in a way that suits you. There is no need to sit at home the whole time. You can go out to do the shopping, drop off kids etc, and pick up phone messages on your return.

Basic computer skills are needed but full training will be given. A DBS check will be required.

To find out more, have a look at their website, www.chandlersfogoodrdneighbours.org, and then please contact them on 07914 757380 or send an email to cfgnchairman@gmail.com.

(whilst this role is working from home, knowledge of the local area is helpful and needs to be with in the area as the phone is a physical one that is passed between coordinators)

NSPCC Schools Volunteer – NSPCC (Widnes)

The team are looking for volunteers from all over Cheshire EastCheshire West and Halton to join and become Speak out. Stay Safe School Volunteers.

What does the role involve?

As a Speak out. Stay safe volunteer, you’ll visit primary schools to deliver workshops that teach children about the different types of abuse and how they can speak out and stay safe. Workshops are age-appropriate and memorable, and need enthusiastic people, passionate about children’s rights and wellbeing, to deliver them. You’ll work alongside other volunteers to help children feel empowered and know who they can speak to if they ever have any worries.

What do I need for the role?

You do not need to have previous experience of working with children to apply – just a desire to help spread important safeguarding messages to them.

Similarly, you do not need to have any classroom or teaching experience for the role – in fact, most volunteers don’t! Full training and extensive support is given to all volunteers.

But they do want people who:

  • are passionate about the wellbeing of children;
  • are happy working as part of a team;
  • would love to learn new skills;
  • are able to travel to primary schools in their local area; and,
  • can fit in 2 school visits a month. (Times can vary depending on the size/location of the school. Visits tend to take place in the morning, and Schools Coordinators aim to be flexible around volunteers where possible.)

I’m interested! What’s the next step?

It’s an easy one! The next step is to attend a Volunteer Information Meeting (virtual), which is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the ins and outs of the role, learn more about the application process and ask any questions you have.

These meetings are designed to help you decide whether you want to apply – there’s no obligation or expectation that you’ll apply if you attend one.

Where do I sign up for a Virtual Info Meeting?

**What do you need to know?**

· You will ensure that the group’s finances are managed in accordance with our policies and submit annual financial returns.

· You will liaise with reserves, local groups and other wildlife organisations.

· You will invite regular feedback from your group leaders, and most importantly the young people to evaluate the success of your meetings and work out what needs to be done to be even better.

· You need to enjoy working with young people – they are the heart of what they do.

· You will be asked to complete a variety of training including induction and safeguarding and data protection.

· The youth groups usually meet monthly, and Main Leaders usually spend six to eight hours per month outside of the meetings on the role depending on how the responsibilities are shared within the team.
