Future Yard are getting amped up to host something out of the ordinary in the run-up to Christmas! Nuggets Live: An Adventure Through The First Psychedelic Era.
This live show is dedicated to the iconic 60s garage/psych compilation, played LIVE in its entirety by Edgar Jones (The Stairs) and very special guests. Including a guest DJ set from Will Sergeant (Echo & the Bunnymen).
Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era is a compilation album of American psychedelic and garage rock singles that were released during the mid-to-late 1960s. It was created by Lenny Kaye, a writer and clerk at the Village Oldies record shop in New York. He would later become the lead guitarist for the Patti Smith Group. Kaye produced Nuggets under the supervision of Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman. It was released in 1972 with liner notes by Kaye that contained one of the first uses of the term “punk rock“.
Featuring standout classics from The Electric Prunes, The Standells, Count Five, The Seeds and The 13th Floor Elevators, Nuggets spawned a slew of similar compilations (Pebbles, Rubble) and soon became a fixture in the bags of DJs on both sides of the Atlantic.

The opening chorus relates the Gospel account of the unwise virgins, who were not prepared to receive their Lord, and the cantata includes two sublime love-duets between Jesus and the faithful soul.

The final chorale reassures the Lord that faithful Christians will be ready to meet him when he calls. The three vocal soloists and chorus are joined by an ensemble of oboes, cor anglais, bassoon, horn, string and organ.
