With a voice that shifts from velvet sonorous tones to banshee-like wails, Tender Claws lures you into her haunting world of alt rock songs inspired by gothic fiction and the darker sides of nature and the human condition.

Her fuzz-heavy, 90s-reminiscent sound comprises powerful grunge-influenced outbursts and softer episodes, scattered with serrated guitar and synth elements. Following the release of her most recent single, ‘Disappear’; and shows this year supporting Dog Race, Rosegarden Funeral Party and Bonnie Trash, she eagerly awaits her suitably spooky Halloween show with us.

Known for her fearless storytelling, raw emotional depth, and unflinching honesty, Kathryn Joseph has made a lasting mark on contemporary music. A relentless pursuit of truth runs through each of her albums, from the devastating beauty of bones you have thrown me and blood i’ve spilled (2015), which won the Scottish Album of the Year Award, to the grief-stricken intensity of from when i wake the want is (2018), and the haunting for you who are the wronged (2022), a powerful reckoning with abuse in all its forms.

Now with PREY, Kathryn explores the collision of want and loss, self-fulfilment and shame, embracing a newfound intensity—bigger, angrier, and full of want. Joining forces with Lomond Campbell, Kathryn’s delicate yet visceral sound continues to evolve, seamlessly blending intimate, unfiltered lyrics with rich, atmospheric layers of piano, keyboards, and electronic elements. Their long-standing collaboration has been instrumental in pushing her music into darker, more experimental territory, amplifying the raw emotional power at its core.

As part of 20th year celebrations, The Unthanks scale back for some intimate shows, supporting today’s best small venues and including memorable ones from their early days. We are thrilled to welcome them to Future Yard on Thursday 13th November, with a set drawing from all parts of their rich repertoire.

Counter Culture presents XGENERATIONX at Future Yard on Wednesday 19th November, featuring Mark Laff (Generation X), Steve Norman (Spandau Ballet) and Elizabeth Westwood (Westworld).

Legendary punk musician and Generation X drummer Mark Laff is set to makes an electrifying comeback in 2025 with his new project, XGENERATIONX, performing the songs of Generation X that he played such a key role in creating with Billy Idol.

Mark Laff looking forward to the tour commented: “For those who kept the faith, I promise not to disappoint with this new exciting line up. I feel it’s important that XGENERATIONX bring new life to the iconic songs from the 1st and 2nd Generation X albums.”

XGENERATIONX is poised to capture the spirit of Generation X and its songs while pushing the boundaries of their sound in exciting new directions.

Pictish Trail, AKA Johnny Lynch, has just completed work on a brand-new album — a sticky, shimmering swirl of sound and slime (both metaphorical and literal). To celebrate, he’s embarking on a series of special solo shows, previewing songs from the forthcoming release. These intimate performances will see Lynch in raw, exploratory mode, armed with an acoustic guitar, a sampler, and a warped imagination — expect tenderness, weirdness, and a generous dollop of goo.

Kantos Chamber Choir are back at Future Yard on Sunday 16th November with The Witch Trials.

A mirror to our callous hearts.

The infamous stories of the trials, torture and execution of witches are surely just abominable tales of a bygone era? Yet, with each and every unspeakable act we witness in the modern world, perhaps the Witch Trials tell us just as much about human nature today.

Music and spoken word sit alongside one another, offering an immersive reflection on the Lancashire Witch Trials of 1612. The programme gives us all a chance to grieve the senseless loss of life and confront some heavy truths while hearing some of the actual texts from the trials of 1612.

Featuring Camden Reeves’ haunting ‘Spells, Remedies & Potions’ – “think Black Sabbath and Metallica but for sopranos” – alongside music by Allegri, Byrd, Hildegard, Wainwright Johnston, and an arrangement of a 17th-Century Barbara Strozzi song by Ellie Slorach, this performance takes you on a captivating journey to a dark past and back again.

Doors open 4:30pm. Performance starts 5pm.
