The alias of singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jordan Lee, Mutual Benefit blends folk, psychedelic pop, and experimental recording techniques into fragile, hopeful songs that evoke the work of Sufjan Stevens , The Microphones and The Antlers.
He joins us in support of his fourth studio album ‘Growing at the Edges’, a multi-layered, expansive piece investigating wider musical possibilities then ever before, inviting the listener to go beyond prescribed paths through songs about interior change, onto reckonings with how to live in a volatile world and find meaning.
Support comes from the beautifully moonstruck, virtuosic future-folk of Odetta Hartman and the wistfully introspective and evergreen alt-folk of Euan Blackman.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, 6 acts will be diving in Future Yard (Birkenhead) Saturday 9th March. All profits to domestic abuse charity SAFENET.

The Fandangoe DISCOTECA is a vibrant micro-disco offering a unique opportunity to dance away life’s worries.
Created by multidisciplinary artist Annie Frost Nicholson, the dock will welcome the art installation for six weekends from 2nd March to 6th April, including Mother’s Day and Easter bank holiday weekend. Located in Britannia Courtyard by The Beatles Story, The Fandangoe DISCOTECA will invite visitors to step inside from 12pm-3pm and 4pm-7pm on Saturdays as well as Good Friday, and from 12pm-4pm on Sundays and Easter Monday.
The immersive installation brings together the old and the new by reimagining a K67 kiosk in partnership with K67 Berlin, a project dedicated to continuing the legacy of these modular architectural masterpieces. Once commonplace in 1960s Eastern Europe, the kiosks were often used as newspaper stands, car-parking attendant booths and more.
The now treasured design has been reimagined into a multicoloured space dedicated to supporting people with modern-day issues, ranging from everyday worries to grief and anxiety.
Perfect to experience with friends and family, the booth accommodates up to eight people, offering a chance to process feelings through a sense of togetherness. Dancers can choose from a vast selection of playlists curated by non-profit organisation, The Loss Project, or opt for a treasured tune to relive old memories. Plus, anyone looking for further mental health support can scan a QR code inside the kiosk for online resources.
The Fandangoe DISCOTECA’s residency at the dock marks the final location of its UK tour, having previously delighted visitors in Canary Wharf, Milton Keynes and Berlin, making it the last chance to experience this captivating installation.

A joyful fusion of jazz and Scottish folk music.
We’re delighted to be hosting the award-winning Manchester Collective for another of their special contemporary classical events in their 2023/24 season. Manchester Collective shows always produce incredible experiences, involving music a broad range of music. This show with Mercury Prize-nominated Scottish folk/jazz musician Fergus McCreadie is no different. Traditional folk music meets jazz and a string quartet.
Humans love categories – drawing lines between ideas, people, genres and moods. But the music we love, no matter how old or new, traditional or contemporary, often has far more in common than we think…
This show is bound to surprise and delight as Mercury Prize-nominated pianist Fergus McCreadie and his spellbinding trio of jazz musicians join the Manchester Collective string quartet to blast through an irresistible collection of music that lives somewhere between the boundaries of jazz, new classical and folk.
Alongside a brand new set by Fergus, fellow Scotsman and Collective favourite Donald Grant is arranging a collection of traditional folk tunes for this unlikely band of players. It’s music that goes straight to the heart, full of warmth and optimism.
There’s no doubt this gig is going to be a lot of fun. Come join the party.
Join Over The Water Show Choir and friends for an evening of choral entertainment.
Music for Meditation is an experimental approach to live music, a hybrid of live performance and guided meditation. The aim is to create a more immersive gig experience, using music as the object of meditation – with the help of a qualified secular mindfulness instructor.
For our first event we are very happy to be welcoming Polypores to perform for us, who ‘paints music with a modular synthesizer, drawing influence from ambient, new age, and experimental electronics’.
The meditation will be guided by qualified instructor, Tony Bennett, a mindfulness teacher with The Mind Map and a current PhD student at LJMU’s School of Psychology.
The performance + guided meditation will last approximately 30 minutes, with a brief period before and after for introductions, explainers and feedback. Prompt arrival is essential as latecomers will not be permitted entry.
Attendees are encouraged to bring cushions or mats to make themselves as comfortable as possible. The event is taking place in a dance studio so the flooring is fine for sitting on, there will be a limited number of chairs available too.
Spaces are strictly limited to 30 – so we’d recommend booking your ticket at the earliest available opportunity.

John Bramwell has been on a never-ending rolling adventure since his workings away from the cherished, Mercury Prize nominated Mancunian band, I Am Kloot. Now on the road with his latest project, John previews his much anticipated sophomore album The Light Fantastic.
After touring his album launch shows this February 2024 in London, Manchester and Bristol as the larger band set up of John Bramwell & The Full Harmonic Convergence, John will then make the trip to the Music Room at Liverpool Philharmonic as John Bramwell & The Full Harmonic Trio, where audiences can enjoy the new album played live in its full glory with perhaps some surprises in between.
