Agroforestry Open Day at Kindling Farm

Join us for a walking tour of Merseyside’s pioneering agroforestry farm.

As part of this year’s national Agroforestry Open Weekend, we invite you to join us on a walking tour of the Northwest’s very own 78-acre organic agroforestry farm!

Led by Kindling Director, Stuart Jones, you’ll learn about the heritage varieties we have onsite and the prominent role they play in our farming system and the wider food supply chain.

This activity is open to everyone with an interest in food and farming. All ages are very welcome to join us! However, please be mindful that our farm is not accessible for prams or pushchairs and the tour will involve 2 hours of walking.

Eco Hacks: Introduction to Composting at Kindling Farm

Are you keen to compost your food waste but not sure how? Or tried composting before but want to learn more? This session is for you!

Composting your food scraps is a great way to reduce the waste your household produces! Join Minna Alanko-Falola of Compost Works in this informative two-hour workshop to get the skills and confidence to give composting a go. 

You will get lots of practical advice about the principles of composting, what you can compost, how to set up and manage your own composting system, and how to prevent things from going wrong. Our focus will be on food waste but the principles apply to garden waste too. 

There will also be plenty of opportunity for questions throughout. This training is suitable for complete beginners or people who would like to brush up on their skills.

Eco Hacks: Tool Repair workshop at Kindling Farm

Save your old garden tools from landfill by developing the skills (and confidence) to mend broken tools at this Repair Cafe. 

This is a practical workshop facilitated by members of the Liverpool Repair Cafe, a worldwide initiative which invites people of all levels to come together and collectively learn how to fix old, worn-out stuff from one another. 

For this workshop, we’re focussing solely on garden tools from spades and forks to strimmers and mowers. You can bring your own tools for repair and providing we have the parts you need, fix them together under the guidance of the Liverpool Repair Cafe team. Alternatively, develop your skills and confidence by practising with the tools we have onsite which are in need of a new lease of life!

We kindly ask for a donation of £5 towards any personal repais which helps us to cover the cost of materials. 

This is a drop-in session; you are welcome to attend anytime between 10.30am-1.30pm.

Apple Tree Grafting workshop at Kindling Farm

Unlock the ancient art of apple tree grafting and take your very own tree home with you.

This half day workshop will train you in the skills of grafting apple (and other fruiting) trees. You’ll be grafting scions (young cuttings) to rootstock at Kindling Farm under the guidance and training of Mark Simmonds. Mark has many years of experience managing orchards and looking after fruit trees and can help you get a grip on the science and practice of apple grafting. There are plenty of opportunities to talk through the process and Mark’s training sessions are always full of fascinating theory and history surrounding tree grafting.This is a practical workshop yet grafting is fairly low impact and involves no heavy lifting.

Grafting with knives involves carefully making safe cuts, which can be fiddly, but there will be plenty of opportunity to learn. If you have any access needs please let us know in advance and we will endeavour to meet them where possible. Artist Office

A meeting point and co-working space for creatives with At the Library.  This month we’ll be offering a sneak peek into the Sefton Libraries archive together.

The archive is one of the things that makes the library such a unique resource for artists to engage with, whether it’s tracing folklore and history within the borough, historical maps, the geography of the area or digital material and fim.

As well as the tour at 1pm we’ll be around from 11am – 3pm co-working in the space. If you’re an artist or local creative and want to tackle your to do list with us, have good coffee and share tips and non-messy work with other creatives, join us for co-working.

Afternoon Special

Due to popular demand, we have introduced two Afternoon Specials every month. The two events in each month will feature the same artists so just book one per month if you want to see a new show each time. 

The Royal Court Afternoon Special is the new
name for Variety Lunch Club. A new name but the same great afternoon at The
Court! Join us for brilliant entertainers, a bowl of Scouse, a cup of tea and
maybe a sweet treat all in the very best company.

Tickets are just £5 or £8.50 including a bowl of
finest home-made Scouse with bread roll and red cabbage. And NEW for 2026 by
popular demand you can enjoy a dessert for just £3. So, you can get your
ticket, Scouse, cup of tea and a dessert (gluten free option available) for
£11.50.

There is a special discount for groups with a
free ticket for every 10th person (please call Box Office for details).

Afternoon Special will still feature the best in
local entertainment with a variety of comedians, actors, singers and
entertainers. The whole proceedings are compered by your favourite and ours,
Sam Avery.

Looking for an exciting spring half term activity for your young person? Sign up for the Empire Theatre Spring Holiday Club – an exciting performing arts activity for young people where creativity, confidence and talent take centre stage.

Perfect for young performers who love musicals, singing, dancing and acting, this 4-day holiday club is led by experienced industry professionals. Included as part of this activity, you will have the opportunity to go on a guided tour of our historical Grade II listed theatre, as well as watch a matinee performance of 2:22 A Ghost Story.

The Old Dock Tour

Discover the origin of Liverpool’s fortune, buried underneath Liverpool ONE. Revealed during excavations on the site in 2001, the story of the world’s first commercial enclosed wet dock is explored on this guided tour. You will discover how a brave idea and an innovative feat of engineering shaped Liverpool’s destiny forever.

On the tour, visitors are taken back in time as they see a large portion of the Old Dock rising more than 20 feet from the bed of the Pool – the creek that gave Liverpool its name. A modern bridge and walkways give grandstand views.

As we all unfurl from winter into spring, come and have a magical afternoon of becoming & belonging with us on Windsor Street. The Vernal Equinox is a potent and powerful time to sow your seeds of possibility for the rest of the year – what would you like to grow this year you incredible seed you? We’re working with our wonderful associate artist Angelica Vanasse, the brilliant youth-led Climate & Nature Advocacy group Mersey Wilders and the evergreen & marvellous Grapes Gardeners.

This event is especially aimed at younger folks in our community and across the Liverpool City Region aged up to 25 years and is open to all ages too!

SEED GROWING – grow herbs; fast growing green hearty, healthy tasty-ness to add to your spring cooking!

CLOTHES SWAPPING – refresh your wardrobe… bring a few colourful items to share! We’re looking for clothes with a story…share what they mean to you before you swap for something new!

NATURE DRAWING – we’re thinking about ourselves as seeds in our neighbourhoods, growing together. Let’s draw and paint what that could look like.

Plus taste delicious fresh made spring foods and drinks!

This event is part of Treasure; a hands-on, creative project that explores food, waste and materials through growing, cooking, preserving, repair and sharing that the Squash crew has been sharing at youth clubs & groups in Liverpool, Sefton, Knowsley & St. Helens. Sessions are relaxed and practical; growing herbs, cooking together from scratch, learning how to use leftovers, sewing & upcycling clothes, and hosting shared meals or a clothes swish (swap!). The emphasis is on creativity, confidence, skill building and connection! It’s been a winter into spring delight, made possible through funding from the Zero Waste Community Fund 2026/27, managed by Merseyside Recycling & Waste Authority (MRWA) in partnership with Veolia, supporting community and voluntary groups, social enterprises and not-for-profit organisations to develop initiatives that cut household waste, increase recycling and reuse, and help reduce carbon emissions.

CO-LABOURING WITH SOIL EXHIBITION, GARDEN TOUR & WINDSOR STREET WALK AT 1PM FROM SQUASH BUILDING – let’s take a walk along Windsor Street and notice what is springing up. Come and see Co-labouring with Soil; the newly installed clay sculptures in the garden inspired by and in collaboration with artist Imayna Caceres’ and her exhibition Underground Flourishings as part of Liverpool Biennial.
