Liverpool’s Most Wuthering Heigh...

Rimrose Valley Friends and the Save Rimrose Valley campaign cordially invite you to join them on Sunday 28th July for another FREE event, as they meet up on Rimrose Valley Country Park, for our next big gathering, with a difference!

Together, they will recreate the 1978 Kate Bush contemporary dance masterpiece, “Wuthering Heights”.

OK… what this ACTUALLY means is that they’re holding Liverpool’s BIGGEST Wuthering Heights Day EVER and YOU’RE invited!

So… what’s it all about?!!

Firstly, no, they haven’t lost the plot (honest!).

This weekend marks Kate Bush’s birthday and these mass gathering events have been popping up in big, open spaces around the globe in recent years, so what better place to host Liverpool than amazing Rimrose Valley!

Check out the photo and video on this page to get a feel for it.

More recently, younger fans have been introduced to Kate Bush after “Running up that Hill” featured in Stranger Things, so they’ll be playing that on the day too and hope this event appeals to everyone!

There will be music, there will be fun, there will be toilets… and something for all the family, so save the date, source your red frock (their alternative outfit if you’re not feeling brave enough, gents!) and check out the FAQs that will follow so you’re as ready as you can be!

Get practicing the routine and get ready to GET INVOLVED!

This event is being brought to you by Rimrose Valley Friends. They’re a small charity which formed to protect, enhance and promote Rimrose Valley Country Park to surrounding communities and beyond, so Liverpool, if you’ve not visited us yet, this is YOUR chance to see it for the first time.

Since 2017 they have been running a campaign to save this beautiful green space from destruction. By supporting events like this one, you’ll be helping raise awareness of their fight and doing your bit to help secure its long term future.

Studio/Lab Social

Studio/Lab Socials are the best way to discover more about the space and what it has to offer. Meet members of the team, ask any questions, and take a look around the space to explore the various tools and resources.

Socials are also a great opportunity to meet other North West-based artists, curators, researchers and technologists, who are all interested in digital art and culture.

There’ll be free drinks, food, and a selection of tech to play with too!

Studio/Lab Co-Working Open Day

Are you an artist looking for a desk space for the day? Do you want to meet other creatives and digital practitioners? Then join us for a Studio/Lab co-working open day!

Their co-working open days are held on the last Friday of every month and run between 9:30-17:30. This is when they welcome non-members to explore Studio/Lab and experience what the space has to offer.

You have the option to secure a free spot for either the morning (9:30-13:30), the afternoon (13:30-17:30), or all day (9:30-17:30) when making your booking.

Here’s what you can expect →

  • Access to Studio/Lab for up to 8 hours, including a desk space and complimentary tea and coffee.
  • Opportunities to meet and connect with digital artists, practitioners, researchers, and other creatives interested in Studio/Lab, as well as current members who can share the inside scoop.
  • End your day with a Studio/Lab Social starting at 18:00. Socials happen every other month, are open to everyone, and are a great chance to network and socialise while enjoying complimentary food and drinks. Book separately here.

If you have any questions about Studio/Lab or their co-working open days, please email: studiolab@fact.co.uk.

Banned Book Club: Writer’s Marketpla...

Step into the world of literary rebellion and celebrate the power of words at the Banned Book Club: Writer’s Marketplace!

In 2023, PEN America counted 3,362 book bans affecting 1,557 unique titles in US schools. The authors targeted are predominantly female, Black and/or LGBTQ+ writers. (https://pen.org/) The practice of banning books contributes to a growing climate of censorship and silencing the voices we need to hear the most.

They say when America sneezes, the UK gets a cold. Although banning books is not happening here right now, the climate in Britain is becoming increasing repressive and cold.

At the Banned Book Club Marketplace they’re encouraging the sale of as many banned books as possible – highlighting female, LGBTQ+, black voices and more.

Are you a writer?  At the Banned Book Club Marketplace connect with renowned authors, publishers, activists and booksellers for professional advice on getting your work seen by agents and publishing houses and explore an array of banned books!

They’ll have performances, readings and more throughout the day join them, grab a book, and become a member of the Banned Book Club!

A ‘LAST HURRAH’ – Jewellery ...

I will be hosting a big sale event on May 21st in my studio in Birkenhead where I’ll be selling END OF LINE jewellery, one of a kind SAMPLES and our BEST-SELLERS at the lowest prices you will ever find them! Everything is designed and hand crafted from recycled sterling silver.

I’ve just landed a new job which means I will be working part-time on Dripped goods from now on. Since I have less hours to dedicate to this I will be focusing on commissions which means streamlining the product offering down to our best-sellers and moving production of these pieces to a ‘made to order’ model. As part of this transition I want to get rid of all the jewellery stock I’ve been holding onto.

This event will be a final opportunity to buy certain pieces, grab yourself a bargain and get your hands on some totally unique treasures! I would love to see your faces at this event, the last sample sale I did was so lovely and lively and I’m hoping this one will be too.

P.S
There’ll also be a new T shirt design and bejewelled caps,
save the date! 👀

Liverpool Loves Eurovision

Liverpool has special plans in place to re-live its hosting of THE most successful Eurovision Song Contest of all time!

Liverpool Loves Eurovision – a series of free events – will take place on Saturday 11 May, transporting visitors to that incredible fortnight in May last year by paying homage to elements of 2023’s incredibly popular programme which helped attract around 500,000 people to the city centre.

The FREE events taking place on 11 May include:

Between 1-7pm Beats on the Streets will take over Castle Street, Liverpool ONE and the Royal Albert Dock Liverpool when 30 pop-up music and dance performances by local artists will take over the locations throughout the day. Expect a soundtrack of Eurovision hits from across the years performed by some of the best local talent.

The Bluecoat will mark the anniversary with Fly High – a beautiful art installation of blue and yellow butterfly lanterns created at family sessions. The butterflies represent how Liverpool shone under the global Eurovision spotlight and have been curated by artist Andrea Ku from B4 Biodiversity.

Welcome to Aquatopia is a stand-alone commission to mark the anniversary of The Blue and Yellow Submarine Parade, one of the best loved moments of Liverpool 2023 – this time taking over the Pier Head. Curated by the Invisible Wind Factory, this is a family-friendly event with DJ sets, dance performances and sea puppetry on the Submarine Stage (located near the Ferry Terminal) and Crafty Fish workshops in Mann Island atrium, which will see families encouraged to create their very own fishy fashion accessory in order to join the roller-skating jellyfish and giant octopus in a special deep-sea disco.

It will run from 2pm until 7pm and will include a whole host of collaborations with local communities and Ukrainian performers.

More events will be added to the line-up soon, including a reimagining of treasure-hunt spectacular Spot Sonia, but this time with some very well-known Eurovision legends…

For full details of what’s on, where and when, head to the Visit Liverpool website, or follow @VisitLiverpool on socials and use #LpoolLovesEurovision #LiverpoolLovesEurovision.

All of the activities will complement the Malmö on the Mersey Grand Final Screening at the Exhibition Centre Liverpool on 11 May.

Find out more about the impressive impact of hosting Eurovision for Liverpool and the wider City Region here.

Liverpool Loves Eurovision forms part of the Liverpool Loves campaign which aims to position Liverpool as the best place to attend an event in the UK. As well as Eurovision, Comic Con and Taylor Swift will also get the Liverpool Loves treatment in the coming months. Read more here.

Ibiza Club Classics

Ibiza Club Classics with a live orchestra twist launch comes to Liverpool this summer

Live music is at the beating heart of Liverpool’s cultural centre, and this summer is due to start with a banging launch, as Revival Nation presents Ibiza Club Classics at the Invisible Wind Factory on Saturday 1st June 2024. Featuring the Symphonica Orchestra and Mr Switch DJ as part of its headline appeal, this is an evening taking guests right back to 80’s anthems, iconic 90’s beats and the unforgettable tunes of the noughties. With early bird tickets already sold-out, this in-demand night promises to be one to remember.

With an incredible 26-piece orchestra on stage to really add something special to the event, and guest acts including Dan Mitchell and Kaci Lynch, with Caitlin Price, the night will honour previously loved genres, promoting modern twists on beloved styles including Jungle, Garage and House, bringing White Isle style to a city that is famous for its love of dance music.

The evening itself comes courtesy of Protagonist Events, the brainchild of enterprising Alfie Abbott, as part of their Revival Nation Events banner. This is their live music launch evening, and Protagonist Events was founded by Alfie due to his passion for live music and his main burning business desire: to put guests at the heart of the event, from planning stages right through to every detail on the night. He spotted a determined gap in the market for live music events which put attendees first, giving them a guest experience with memories to last a lifetime.

Alfie Abbott owner of Protagonist Events comments: “Liverpool has rightly earned its place on the cultural map when it comes to every layer of dance music, and we want to place our guests at the heart of everything we do. From the brilliant location at the Invisible Wind Factory, to our reasonable ticket prices, to our inclusion of local Liverpool talent on our roster for the night, everyone who attends this first Revival Nation event can be assured that their experience is what centres our production values.

I really want to ensure that guests are the heart of the show, and what an event we have lined up for them. Back in the day, live dance music events of any kind were all about ending the working week and having the best times with friends. Speaking personally I can say that those memories are more important to me than any house I bought, car I owned or clothes I wore. This is all about a shared vision and experience, and the live music we are presenting, via contemporary versions of Ibiza Classics featuring the amazing Symphonica Orchestra, is all about making fresh memories.

We also wanted to really let our guests know that this is a fantastic value event. With many live music events soaring in terms of ticket prices, we wanted to make sure that we could create a unique Ibiza-style, premium quality night but make it affordable for our guests who have busy lives and lots of pressure on their budgets right now.

The future for Revival National Events includes further live music nights, and I am delighted that we are also branching out into other areas of interest including our Evening With Events series featuring some seriously talented football legends – we know from talking to our key demographics that this is another idea of a great night out for them. So we will be keeping you posted on all future events across our website and socials.

As for our Ibiza Club Classics event we want everyone to feel welcome – forget velvet ropes and VIPs, this is all about everyone dancing shoulder-to-shoulder, at what promises to be the first, and best, live dance music event of the summer.”

The Invisible Wind Factory is located at 3 Regent Road Liverpool L3 7DS.

Ibiza Club Classics with a live orchestra takes place on Saturday 1st June 2024 at 7pm until 1 am, with performances starting at 8 pm
