The Meat Rack

The Meat Rack is a dark gritty drama set in 50’s London. It’s about ambition, identity, and denial.

It examines themes of Homosexuality and the lengths people will go to in order to keep their secrets.

There is an additional performance at The Hope Street Theatre on 30th April.

DDFI40: Shooting From Below by Midgitt...

‘Not all people without dwarfism are under the presumption that people with dwarfism are there for entertainment as pets, toys, fetishes, dream sequences, musical numbers… just most.’

Midgitte Bardot, the alias of solo artist Tamm Reynolds, presents a work-in-progress sharing of their new show where they explore who is really dwarfing who.

Performance has been written into dwarf bones against their will. They’re a local celebrity with little power wherever they go, from the mines, courts, cabarets, and big screen to performing arts institutions.

Join Bardot as she questions: why is it violence she seeks? What happens when a dwarf has power? Are the non-dwarfs on their knees? What does a land look like when it’s designed and ruled by Midgittes?

Supported by Arts Council England and the Southbank Centre, Marlborough Arts, Battersea Arts Centre, and almost definitely et al.

Unity Scratch Night

This is the perfect opportunity to catch snippets of brand new work in development by fantastic local artists.

The Lineup
Hosted by RAWD

Taxi Tales | one night on the town

The taxi driver, a witness to countless dramas, has seen it all unfold on the backseat of their cab. Therapist, confidant – passengers bare their souls under the flickering city lights.

The subsequent journey throws up recurring themes resulting in a rich human comedy – a mosaic of life’s absurdities, built piece by piece across one night.  We are testing the work in advance of its debut in April at LiF 2025.

Wing It Impro and Stories on behalf of Liverpool Improvisation Festival.

Bember | Winnie Southgate

Bember  is a dark-comedy set in the therapy room. Winnie is a writer/actor/director who likes to focus on stories that use surreal elements or magical-realism to address important topics.

Ushiku Crisafulli | Unmasked

Ushiku’s most ambitious project so far, Unmasked uses film, live performance, music, and visual art to challenge the language around autistic authenticity and autistic enjoyment whilst championing accessible practice. Ushiku is a chef, published writer, multi-disciplinary artist and founder of the OpenMind Collective.

Do you want to get involved or perform?

These nights are open for artists to come and test out new material on a live audience. See what works and what doesn’t as we develop together.

Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers: In Time 30th ...

Join the celebration of Mugenkyo’s landmark 30th anniversary, with a very special show of big beats, visual treats & vital energy.

Taking the audience on a journey ‘in time’, a thrilling ride through their 30 years, the concert is a full theatrical experience, with dynamic choreography and heart-pounding rhythms contrasting with atmospheric soundscapes.

As Europe’s longest-established taiko group, Mugenkyo are widely recognised as the ground-breaking pioneers of this exciting art-form, thrilling audiences at thousands of performances worldwide, now returning with their first new show in 5 years.

In the few years leading up to now, Mugenkyo have been busy on projects such as collaborating on the ambitious “World of Gods” with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, filming for the Hollywood film “Tin Soldier” in Greece with Jamie Foxx and Robert DeNiro, a 2-week run at the World Expo in Dubai, the BBC TV Tokyo Olympics, a 26-date run at the Adelaide Fringe, the “Fire & Light” site-specific project, regular online workshops & performances, along with rebuilding their purpose-built residential centre for Taiko.

They now return to the road with an electrifying and uplifting performance of skill, stamina and soul, just ‘in time’ for this special Birthday Bash! Don’t miss it!

Milton Jones

This is not a musical. Milton Jones is tone deaf and has no sense of rhythm, but at least he doesn’t make a song and dance about it.

He has more important things to discuss. Like giraffes…and there’s a bit about tomatoes.

You might know him from Mock the WeekLive at the Apollo or Radio 4. Or that time he stood for the Scottish National Party, fought a hard campaign, but in the end had to respect the wishes of the people of Cardiff.

A whole new show of daftness. You know it makes sense.

Varna International Ballet – The...

This most famous of fantasy ballets for all the family begins as night falls on Christmas Eve. As snowflakes fall outside, the warm glow of the open fire sends flickering shadows across the boughs of the Christmas tree and all the presents beneath.

When midnight strikes, we are swept away to a fairy-tale world where nothing is quite as it seems, toy dolls spring to life, the Mouse-king and his mouse-army battle with the Nutcracker Prince and we travel through the Land of Snow to an enchanted place where the magic really begins…

Hollie McNish with Michael Pedersen

After a run of sold out gigs up and down the UK, Hollie is back with her paperback tour as she chats and reads from her latest paperback Lobster and other things I’m learning to love, plus a selection of firm favourites from Slug and Nobody Told Me.

Here, she will be joined by Michael Pedersen for the Liverpool launch of his brand new debut novel Muckle Flugga. Expect strong language and adult content, gift-wrapped in gorgeously crafted poetry.

Kate Butch: Wuthering Shites

Fresh from the runway of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, comedy crossdresser Kate Butch has written a jukebox musical based on the songs of Kate Bush (kind of like if Mamma Mia! had a nervous breakdown) but now she needs your help to get “BUSH!” to Broadway.

Join the ‘great comedian’ (WhatsOnStage) as she runs up that hill, with stand-up comedy, live vocals, lip sync extravanganzas and more cloudbusting than you can shake a stick at. Buxton Fringe Best Comedy 2017 and 2019.
