Ruby Wax: I’m Not As Well As I Thoug...

After a complete sell-out first run in 2023, Ruby Wax’s rawest, darkest, funniest and most compelling stage show yet announces brand new dates for 2024, thanks to enormous demand.

“The original idea behind this show was based on the extreme journeys that I wanted to take in order to find an antidote to living a frazzled life. Along the way I wanted to find meaning, peace, happiness – the stuff we’re all chasing. However, after some transcendent experiences, I ended up in a mental institution. Obviously, I didn’t find what I was looking for.”

‘I’m Not As Well As I Thought I Was’ is Ruby’s first tour show in four years following her critically acclaimed, sell-out tour, ‘How To Be Human’.

Woman I Women

A new stage production is fusing performance art and physical theatre to explore how lesbian relationships do not follow traditional societal expectations.

Woman | Women is a physical and comedic show that takes an academic deep dive into the fast-paced nature of  same sex relationships between women.

The autumn tour also features pre-show discussions on sexuality and creativity in an open conversation format.

The show, which will tour Ormskirk, Liverpool, and Prescot this November, is the brainchild of acclaimed international performance artist and academic, Rowena Gander.

During each show Rowena will ambitiously find and navigate a new and featured duet (relationship) unique to each venue. The real time relationship questions links between pace, compatibility, attachment, and scarcity mindsets in lesbians and how those components impact the relationship a lesbian has with herself.

Mersey Morris – dance at the mus...

Morris dancing is the name given to the traditional dances of England, covering many types of dance. Join Mersey Morris at 12.30pm as they perform several of these dances accompanied by live music played by a multi-talented band of musicians.

After the performance there will be the chance to have a go yourself. You can join Mersey Morris for a free hour-long workshop starting at 2pm. Meet the team and learn a dance.

There has been a Morris dance side in Liverpool for almost 100 years, when the Liverpool Morris Men were founded. Mersey Morris is the proud inheritor of this tradition and has been in existence since 1962, when the Liverpool men joined with the Wirral Morris Men. Two years ago they adopted open membership and now welcome all into their number.

Morris dance is a great source of fun and fitness. Mersey Morris are always looking to welcome new talent to the team. Please speak to one of the team if you are interested in joining.

Mark Thomas: Gaffa Tapes

Following a recent step towards theatre in his last few shows, Mark Thomas is back to his finest stand-up form and anti-Tory sentiment in Gaffa Tapes as takes his tour to Liverpool!

Mark’s now famous mix of standup, theatre, journalism and the odd bout of performance art has made him one of our oldest surviving alternative comics. Often referred to as the ‘godfather of political comedy’ (amidst many other things), Mark has been performing comedy for nearly 40 years.

If you don’t know what Mark does, ask your parents. In his time, he has won 8 awards for performing, 3 for human rights work… and 1 he invented for himself. He has made 6 series of the Mark Thomas Comedy Product and 3 Dispatches for Channel 4, made 5 series of the Manifesto for Radio 4, written 5 books and 4 playscripts, curated and authored 2 art exhibitions with artist Tracey Moberly and was commissioned to write a show for the Royal Opera House.

He has forced a politician to resign, changed laws on tax and protest, become the Guinness Book of Records world-record holder for number of protests in 24 hours, taken the police to court three times and won (the fourth is in the pipeline), walked the length of the Israeli Wall in the West Bank (that’s 724km), and generally mucked about trying to have fun and upset (shall we say) the right people.

An evening with poet and musician Tom ...

Tom George has been performing his work in Liverpool for over 20 years. His work is inspired by modern life, human connection, spirituality and the natural world.

Tom’s recently-published book ‘Keys to the Forest’ was described as ‘touching and true’. At this event, Tom will read a selection of his poems and play songs on acoustic guitar. His books and CDs will be available.
