Experimenting with Collagraph

Collagraph is an experimental, painterly printing technique that uses in-expensive materials to allow a very direct, hands-on approach to print-making. The term ‘Collagraph’ combines the Greek word ‘Colla’ (glue) and graph (drawing) referencing this process’s use of collage-like methods.

During this one day course participants will create unique collagraph plates using a variety of techniques and materials, which will then be inked and printed on our century old etching press to reveal rich textural prints. You will finish the workshop with both your collagraph plate and a small edition of collagraph prints.

Heritage skills taster: Tool Repair Workshop

Broken spades? Blunt secateurs? Rake without a handle? Save your old garden tools from landfill by developing the skills (and confidence) to mend broken tools at this Repair Cafe.

This is a practical workshop facilitated by members of the Liverpool Repair Cafe, a worldwide initiative which invites people of all levels to come together and collectively learn how to fix old, worn-out stuff from one another.

For this workshop, we are focussing solely on manual garden tools like spades, trowels, rakes, forks – to name a few. You can bring your own tools for repair and we will supply all the materials and parts you need to fix them – we kindly ask for a donation of £5 to cover costs.

Alternatively, we have a number of tools onsite which are in need of a new lease of life. By restoring our old tools, you’re helping us to minimise waste, conserve energy and extend the life of raw materials therefore helping us work towards a more environmentally sustainable way of farming.

This is a drop-in session; you are welcome to attend anytime between 2-4.30pm. You must register to come to this event as facilities and parking are limited.
