PVTV Creative Meet-Up

People Versus TV (PVTV) host monthly Creative Meet-Ups at DoES Liverpool, bringing together local artists, filmmakers and creatively curious people to experiment, collaborate and develop ideas in an informal setting.

Sessions vary month to month, but can include working together on ideas, trying out creative exercises, developing concepts for short films, building miniature sets, experimenting with green screen, puppetry, or testing simple practical effects.

The meet-ups are open to anyone, whether you’re experienced or just starting out. The focus is on shared experimentation, and ideas are developed collectively in the room.

These sessions are part of PVTV’s ongoing grassroots programme, creating space for collaboration, experimentation and creative community-building in Liverpool .

These are relaxed, low-pressure sessions designed to help people connect, try things out and get involved in future projects.

The Creative Meet Ups are free, with no booking required.

Repair cafe at DoES Liverpool

We are running to our normal schedule of the 3rd Sunday of the month,

For those of you who have not been to a Repair Cafè, this is a mostly free service where you can bring in broken items and get them repaired, only paying for any parts that are used in the repair. You are welcome to come on the day with an item for repair or to help with the repairs. We can cope with many kinds of repair, such as electrical and electronic items, bikes, furniture, computers, clothes and fabric alterations.

Why It Matters

Environmental benefits: Repair cafés help extend the life of products, which reduces waste and the need for new resources and manufacturing. For example, in the Farnham case they estimated a significant CO₂ saving. Skill-sharing & community building: They provide venues for people to share repair knowledge, reducing isolation and building community ties. The movement links technical fix-skills with social connection. Behaviour change and culture shift: Repair cafés challenge the mindset of “if it’s broken, throw it away, buy new”. They promote “fix it, learn to fix, reuse” instead.

Economic/financial benefits: They help people save money (by repairing rather than replacing) and reduce disposal costs and waste.

What Happens at a Repair Café – Typical Features Volunteers (often with backgrounds in electronics, sewing, woodwork, mechanical repair) staff stations where visitors bring items. Owners participate, ask questions, learn. The items repaired vary widely: electrical and electronic goods (radios, lamps, small appliances), clothing/textiles, furniture, jewellery, toys, clocks, etc. It’s usually free or based on donations; the idea is accessibility for all. Some parts may be charged if needed, but the labour is volunteer.

Workshops are often monthly.

Tree Tales: Art in the Branches

Join The Tree Council at Open Eye Gallery for an evening exploring the creative connection between people, trees and the natural world.

Young artists Sonia Poppi and Cara Ng, whose work has previously been exhibited as part of the gallery’s LOOK Climate Lab programme, will lead ‘Bookmark Your Tree’, a hands-on creative workshop inviting participants to reflect on their relationship with trees and place. Using watercolour and natural forms inspired by leaves and flowers, the session encourages participants to create small artworks while exploring how creativity can help us notice and care for the landscapes around us.

The evening will also feature an interactive exploration of PlantWave, a device that translates the electrical signals of plants into music, allowing participants to create sound by touching different parts of a plant or tree. Hosted by Benjamin Haycock, an international award-winning singer-songwriter and environmental advocate, and Richard Pollard, Head of the National Schools Programme at The Tree Council, the event will conclude with a live acoustic performance from Benjamin Haycock. His work brings together music, storytelling and environmental engagement through projects presented across the UK at venues including 10 Downing Street, the National Exhibition Centre and Kew Gardens.
