Learn the basics of UV screen-printing, a popular & versatile printing process that can be used on fabric & paper.
During this one day course you will learn the basics of screen printing, including learning about the materials used and processes involved in creating a UV exposed screen. After preparing and exposing your own screen, you’ll get time to draw your own image to print, or you can bring a *suitable image with you. You’ll finish the workshop by using their screen-beds to ink and print your 2 colour designs onto paper in a small edition that you can take home with you.
The course runs for one day (11:00am – 5:00) with a break for lunch.
All materials you will use are included in the cost of the course, but you are welcome to bring along your own if you choose.
Their studios are environmentally friendly where possible and use greener methods of screen printing, such as water-based acrylic inks.
Completing this course will act as an Induction. After becoming a Bluecoat Artist Member you will be able to book into their Screen Printing Studio should you wish to.

The Art of Screenprinting is a comprehensive course suitable for beginners and intermediate printers alike. On completion, you will be a knowledgeable, confident screen-printer and able to hire their printmaking facilities to use.

The course schedule is as follows:
Week 1: You will learn the fundamentals of screenprinting and create experimental prints using hand cut paper stencils and monoprint.
Week 2: You will learn how to clean a screen and prepare it for printing, as well as coating your screen in UV sensitive emulsion and exposing it to create a permanent stencil for printing. You will then use your exposed screen to create a set of prints.
Week 3: This week will teach you all about registration and how to use multiple screens to create multi-layered prints.
Week 4: Your final week will teach you how to print onto fabric, utilising all you’ve learnt to understand the subtle changes needed in the screenprinting process to create great fabric prints
All materials you will use are included in the cost of the course, but you are welcome to bring along your own if you choose.
After completing this course and becoming a Bluecoat Artist Member, you will be able to book into their Screenprinting Studio should you wish to.

Award-winning artist Carrie Reichardt is creating a new public artwork for Kirkby, made out of heart-shaped ceramic tiles, celebrating the women of Knowsley. Come along and add your voice by sharing stories of the strong women you admire.

This event is part of National Museums Liverpool’s committment to sustainability and carbon literacy.
This workshop, led by artist Amy Auld, will be beginner friendly, experiential learning. There will be a focus on colour and the freedom of movement.
You can bring in as much reference work as you’d like, the session will be focusing on familiar landscapes and what this means to you. This could be old family photographs, places you’ve been or even where you’d like to go. There will be multiple materials to work from: watercolours, charcoal, pens, pencils, and paint. The session will be a space for people to express themselves through multiple art styles and discover the importance of perspective and how composition and colour within a landscape can create a transformatively calm and emotive piece
The session will take place on 6 July, and run from 1-4pm. Tickets will be £25 per person (concessions are available) and must be booked in advance.
Be inspired by the incredible collections of World Museum and hone your skills in sketching, observation and communicating texture in your art, in our regular still-life drawing sessions.
Each session will feature a small display of items from their natural history handling collections for you to explore as you develop your skills. All sessions will be held at the World Museum and will have strictly limited places to maintain a relaxed and intimate atmosphere.
These sessions are suitable for absolute beginners as well as more experienced artists. Tickets cost £15 and can be purchased in advance from our website.
Basic art materials will be provided but if you would like to bring your own you are welcome to. Please note that there are limited facilities for washing brushes or palettes.
An important aspect of the exhibition ‘Another View: Landscapes by Women Artists’ is questioning the categorisation of artists into amateur and professional, given that this tends to be a gendered divide.
Drawing on this theme around career barriers for women and supporting the professional transition, this day is all about demystifying creative roles (particularly in galleries), understanding the diverse career paths people take, and supporting women with identifying their unique and transferrable skills.
During the event, visitors will hear first hand from a range of women working at NML what their career journeys have been like, and will be given the opportunity to ask questions and have informal discussions to find out more. In addition to this, there will be employability tasks and workshops to support participants with identifying their own skills, and signposting them to useful resources.
This event is aimed at women and non-binary visitors who may be students, young professionals, those seeking a change of career or those with an interest in finding out more about creative careers.
This event is free and tickets must be booked in advance. The event will run from 10:30am-3pm, however visitors will not be turned away if they want to attend specific elements of the day and drop in at a later time.
Join Lady Lever Art Gallery for this practical art workshop series led by a different guest artist each time, inspired by our exhibition ‘Another View: Landscapes by Women Artists’.
As the exhibition looks at how landscapes have been interpreted and represented by women over the 19th and 20th centuries, we will be running a series of workshops exploring how a variety of contemporary women artists today are translating their experience of landscapes into their practice. Participants will be supported to create their own unique piece to take home, drawing on inspiration from each artists own techniques, ideas and experiences.
This workshop will be led by artist Bindi Vora.

Experts from World Museum will lead a special summer bug safari. Use their special spotter’s guide trail to hunt out your own incredible insects or join their experts for a Bug Hunt session.
Please be aware that these events will take place outside. They recommend that you wear sensible clothes and footwear for exploring outside spaces. Children must be supervised at all times.
