SRD 2024: A Walk of Remembrance

Admission Free
Start Time 12:00
End Time 15:00

We will mark SRD 2024 on the 23 August with a Walk of Remembrance through Liverpool City Centre, taking pauses at landmarks of historic significance. Along the walk we’ll speak about the journey and hear from influential voices.

The walk this year has been extended and will begin at Williamson Square with an introduction from Michelle Charters before moving through the city with stops at Clayton Square, the Bluecoat and Liverpool One’s Sugar House Steps. The procession will be accompanied by a series of performances presented in partnership with Africa Oye by Love & Joy Gospel Choir, Powerful Gal – directed by Ithalia Forel, Andre Jahnoi and Wavertree Gospel Choir.

After the walk there will be a Libation ceremony at Canning Dock, which is a commemorative ritual, honouring and remembering the ancestors who have gone before us.
