An evening of live experimental music

Start Time 19:30
End Time 22:30

Bluecoat will host a unique evening of special live performances from Adela Mede, Dane Law and Dialect. Three artists exploring the interplay of folk forms, ambient sounds and computer music.

Slovak-Hungarian musician Adela Mede creates mesmerising multi-layered pieces of ambient-folk-pop with voice, technology and field recordings. Singing in three languages (Slovak, Hungarian and English) layering ambient compositions with digital vocal manipulations and minimalistic electronica. Her debut album ‘Szabadság’ is filled with folkloric melodies and described by The Quietus as ‘gorgeous vocals and atmospheric re-imaginations of traditional themes which are never short of ideas or emotional depth.’

Dane Law is a London based producer whose current output explores sound collage and sampling, with semi-algorithmic layered acoustic guitar pieces. His latest record blue forty-six’ is a beautiful arrangement of harp-like notes and melancholic beauty. Described by BBC 6 Music’s Tom Ravenscroft as “A really, really gorgeous record.”

Dialect is the long standing project of Liverpool composer, multi instrumentalist and field recordist, Andrew PM Hunt. His music is a kind of cybernetic minimalism with digitised vocals and hypnotic tape loops. His output has been described by Pitchfork as ‘like a painter or collage artist, not so much writing music as manipulating shapes.’
