Join Comics Youth, who use creativity to support people’s mental health, wellbeing and access to the arts, in their zine making workshop!
You will learn about the history of zine making and how to make your own, then create a zine focusing on LGBTQ+ identities and experiences. There are no limitations to how you express yourself in this workshop, you could make your zine about your favourite shirt that brings you gender euphoria, you could explore iconic LGBTQ+ icons or you could share your personal journey as an LGBTQ+ person. There are no boundaries when it comes to creativity, so they will be leaving the binary at the door and helping you tap into your imagination.
The zines made at this workshop have the opportunity to be published and shared at our LGBTQ+ History Month event in February 2024, which will see people come together to celebrate our diverse community through your zine launch, talks by LGBTQ+ youth and arts-based workshops on the day! So come and take part if you’d like to try something new, meet like-minded people and have your work distributed across the city.
This session is open to anyone aged 12+ who identifies as LGBTQ+ or is questioning. You do not need any previous experience with zine making or the arts, this is a space to learn a new skill and develop new ways to express yourself!
This is a safe space that will not tolerate any bigotry, use of slurs or triggering content. Please do let them know if you have any access needs that they should be aware of so that we can make the workshop as fun for you as possible!
This workshop is free but places are limited so please book your ticket below.
